• The hum of the SUV's engine was the only sound that filled the tense silence as we sped away from Black Moon territory. My heart hadn't stopped racing since we left, and the image of Dexter's sinister smile haunted me like a shadow I couldn't shake. I pressed myself closer to Cameron, seeking comfort in his warmth, but even his strong arms around me couldn't dispel the creeping dread that wrapped around my chest like a vice.
