- Without hesitation, I reached for his hand and pulled him from his chair. My parents called my name, but I didn’t look back. My heart raced as we hurried down the hall, my heels clicking rapidly against the tile.
- “Jesus, slow down, Clara,” Dennis said, half out of breath. “What’s wrong?”
