Chapter 73 The Woman

  • The woman thought for a long time, which irritated me, but I didn't show it. I needed her help, and I know very well that I can't and shouldn't trust people I don't know. However, since I walked through the door, I've been observing her. She doesn't like this job, but she needs it. She hears a lot of nonsense from the patrons, and I know this because I used to work as a bargirl and understand how it is. Besides, no one is so detached from the real world not to know what's going on or know someone who talks too much.
  • I was putting my hopes in strangers, but it was better than staying home waiting for Michael to appear. He wants to destroy Lorenzo, and as if that weren't enough, I had a son who was the boss's child. No one would hurt my Luke; I would kill the devil himself to protect him.
  • "It's true that much of what I know is from listening, but I don't take the initiative to ask," she finally said. "But I know people who live all over this city, and they think this Michael is constantly on the move to avoid being found. The east side of the city is somewhat abandoned. There are houses close to each other where only the poorest live. Maybe he's hiding there, in places where the brothers wouldn't look." Finally, I was hearing something useful. "Besides..." The woman, whose name I still didn't know, bit her lip, wanting to say something but hesitating. I stared at her, waiting as long as I could. "There's a woman. She doesn't belong to any side or crime, lives far from the city in the higher region, among the trees. There's an old, deactivated hotel there. Her name is Margo, and she's tough. You have to be careful. This woman knows everyone and everything; she surely knows how to find this man."
