Chapter 10 The Bad Guy

  • A particular part of the man's body was about to explode.
  • There were a few moments Avery had blanked out!
  • She knitted her brows and reprimanded herself. Why am I like this? How can I allow a stranger's kiss to arouse my body? He's not even my boyfriend! Avery Rumbley, don't you dare forget about Zayne! You can only have feelings for that man!
  • “How dare you zone out when you're having sex with me?” Cayden aggressively removed her white jacket.
  • Besides the warmth from the man's wet lips, Avery could also feel his muscular hand pulling away her brassiere. His calloused palms had also cupped her smooth and tender bosoms. Ouch. It hurts, and it's ticklish.
  • “Touch me,” the man whispered in a deep, seductive voice by her ear. He lowered his head and sniffed her hair.
  • The deep resonance of the man's husky voice almost took Avery's breath away!
  • Cayden's body gave off a pleasant scent that smelled like her shower gel. In other words, the man must have also used her shower gel earlier.
  • Avery knew she would be in danger if she did not retaliate with all her might.
  • Since any other forms of resistance would be futile, she had no choice but to resort to the most savage tactic she could think of. I'm sorry, boss, but I have to do this to defend my honor!
  • Avery, who had gotten used to seeing in the dark, could vaguely see the man's chiseled face. The dim light did not only accentuate his surreal charm but also drew her attention to his thin, alluring lips.
  • Avery felt she was standing in front of a renowned actor from the adult film industry. She was completely spellbound by the way he moved his body.
  • Avery pinched the man's body, mustered the courage, and lifted her leg.
  • She bent her knee and kicked him in the private part hard!
  • Cayden responded with a deep grunt and knitted his brows but did not utter a word.
  • “Let me go!” She twisted her body and struggled to pull away from him.
  • Yet, the man tightened his grip on her wrist.
  • Avery felt the pain but still could not break free from his grip. That's it. I'm done.
  • But the man released her not long after.
  • Avery, whose mind had turned completely blank, had only one thought in mind. I must run for my life!
  • She slammed the door so intensely that it jolted the bed, waking Zachary from his sleep.
  • Avery was afraid of wandering in the hotel's corridor in the middle of the night, but she also could not return to the room. She did not even dare step into the restroom as it was tucked away in a quiet corner.
  • In the end, she decided to take the elevator to get to the ground floor.
  • The hotel lobby was brightly lit, and there were two receptionists at the counter and four security guards on duty. No one can harass me now. I can get the security's help since they're only about six feet away.
  • Avery felt safe in the hotel lobby.
  • “Here you go, miss.” One of the receptionists gave her a cup of tea.
  • “Thank you.” Avery took a few sips of the tea to warm her freezing body. It's going to be a long night, but I believe there is light at the end of the tunnel.
  • The chilly weather woke Avery up the next day. Though she had a blanket, she still experienced nasal congestion and could feel her body shivering. She had probably caught a cold.
  • Now that she was awake, she knew she had to face the music.
  • Avery folded her arms and went deep in thought. If he's going to apologize to me for his behavior last time, I might forgive him. But if he doesn't show remorse, I'll resign right away.
  • She was aware sexual harassment between a male superior and a female subordinate was common both abroad and in the country.
  • Avery might dodge a bullet by leaving this company, but she might face the same problem in the next one. Some men might think women are vulnerable, but it doesn't mean we can allow them to do anything to us. At least I can't let that happen to me.
  • Avery's colleagues, Cecelia Zuckerberg and Trevor Lane, who were also on the business trip in Hallsbay, went downstairs at around eight in the morning.
  • “You're early, Ery.” Cecelia turned around and saw Avery when she was going to have breakfast with Trevor.
  • Avery took comfort in seeing her fellow colleagues.
  • When she was about to get up and leave with her colleagues, the elevator door on her left opened.
  • Cayden then walked out with his children.
  • The color drained from Avery's face when she looked at him.
  • Cayden, too, met her eyes and noticed how unkempt she was.
  • “Mr. Dartsley will take you to breakfast,” Cayden lowered his head and said to his twins.
  • When Rory walked past Avery while holding Xavier's hand, she made a cheeky face.
  • The little girl's adorable but mischievous look melted her heart.
  • While Xavier was bringing the children to the restaurant for breakfast, he gestured for Trevor and Cecelia to tag along.
  • Cayden gazed deeply into Avery's eyes. He inched closer and fixed his eyes on her porcelain white complexion. “What was I doing in your room last night?”
  • “Uh...” Avery froze for a moment and lifted her head to look at her boss.
  • She did not expect him to initiate the conversation with that question. Did he not remember a thing last night? Was he drunk?
  • She looked at him. How could he act like nothing had happened last night? It's so unfair!
  • The man standing before her was about six feet three. Not only was his body slender, but he also had broad shoulders and a narrow hip. The white shirt he wore further accentuated his muscular physique.
  • Cayden looked like a gentleman today. It was as if the bad guy who violently forced himself on Avery was someone else.
  • “You were drunk last night, Mr. Moore,” she answered.
  • “I thought so, but I somehow still had bits and pieces of last night's memory. Were you the woman?” He shot another question indifferently.
  • His stare caused Avery to panic and gasp. D-Did he think I intentionally dragged him into my room and forced myself on him?
  • Avery dismissed the thought by waving her hand. “No. Not me. I don't know what happened in the room. After you took over my room, a woman went in but left in five minutes.”
  • Cayden continued sizing her up from her brows to her eyes and from the tip of her nose to her lips.
  • Avery thought she could gloss over it since the man had forgotten about yesterday's incident, but she seemed to have insinuated that he was a “fast shooter.” Why did I say five minutes? I should have said one hour!
  • “What's wrong? Did she steal anything?” Avery asked.
  • Cayden knitted his brows and teased her, “No. But she seemed to have knocked my junk.”
  • Avery blanched at his words and blushed instantly.
  • “Oh, really? Do you need to go to the hospital?” Avery asked as she was taken aback by his words.
  • A sharp glint flashed across the man's eyes. “I'm just worried about her knees.”
  • His answer rendered Avery speechless.
  • “Well, I guess that call girl must have gotten used to this kind of injury,” Cayden casually remarked while knitting his brows. He then lit a cigarette and puffed at it, pretending she was not around.
  • Upon hearing that, Avery, who stood still, began to feel mild pain in her knees. All because of his thick junk!
  • Avery deduced that Zachary's and Rory's mother was no longer with them. Boss wouldn't have been so desperate if there was a woman in his life.
