Chapter 3 The Scent

  • I
  • He entered the resort and went directly to the reception area.
  • The female receptionist immediately saw him coming and she smiled. How she wished this man would at least notice her beauty as his lover and not just as his friend. She sighed. “He is truly gorgeous and oh so captivating,” she murmured.
  • “So Trixie, what’s up? Why did you send me a message telling me to come here, outright?” the captivating man asked the lady receptionist as he approached the reception desk.
  • “Hmm, I need to talk to you in private; it is confidential,” she said as she walked out of the reception area, grabbed his arm, and led him outside. They sat at the garden side where none could hear them.
  • “So what’s the confidential matter? Come on, you are killing me with my curiosity,” he hissed but smiling actually.
  • “Lexus, I think I saw her. She is one of the guests.” Trixie lightly replied.
  • The man called Lexus suddenly furrowed. “Who?”
  • “The missing golden she-wolf,” she murmured, afraid that somebody may hear what she just said.
  • “What? Where?” Lexus suddenly became frantic.
  • Trixie got a paper inside her pocket. “There; here details are written in this paper,” she said as she handed him the piece of paper.
  • Lexus got the paper and read what is written therein. “Daffodil Marby,” he muttered her name. As if a hand caressed his heart as he mentioned the name.
  • “Lexus, what are you going to do to determine if she is the missing one?” Trixie asked curiously.
  • Lexus looked at the woman with a little doubt in his eyes, “How do you know by the way that she is the missing golden she-wolf?”
  • “Her eyes Lexus; her eyes. No one from here got those golden eyes like hers.” Trixie exclaimed.
  • Lexus was surprised. “You mean her eyes are golden Trixie?”
  • “Yes.”
  • “What if she is just wearing her contact lens?”
  • “No, I asked her if those are her original eyes and she said yes,” Trixie said with absolute certainty.
  • Lexus nodded, although he seemed to be not convinced yet. “Let us see Trixie.”
  • “I am just curious Lexus; is there any other sign to determine if indeed she is the missing she-wolf aside from her eyes?” Trixie asked again.
  • “Yes there is Trixie, but it is confidential. Only I, the Alpha, the Luna, and the upcoming Alpha knew it.” Lexus replied. He stood up and excused himself. “I need to go Trixie.”
  • “Lexus, one more question.” Trixie stood up too.
  • “Yes?”
  • “Hmm, we have been friends since childhood and until now; both of us haven’t found our mates yet. Can’t you feel that maybe I am your mate actually?” Trixie said sheepishly.
  • Lexus made a deep breath. “Trixie, how many times would I need to explain to you that such mate pull could be easily detected? If you are my mate, the moment we turned seventeen, I should have known. Attend some parties and night balls; you might find your mate there.”
  • Trixie frowned and marched back to the reception area while Lexus just shook his head.
  • Suddenly, that sweet lilac fragrance filled his nostrils again, and once more, Lexus felt that heavenly feeling inside his heart. He smiled; maybe this is his lucky day. He might found his mate today and at the same time, the woman with those golden eyes might be actually the missing golden she-wolf after all.

  • Lexus looked at the words written in the paper. Trixie wrote therein the name, birth date, address, and contact number of the resort’s guest with the name of Daffodil Marby. Those details are required by the resort to its every guest but actually confidential. No one should know that Trixie violated the resort’s company policy by giving him the details of one of the resort’s guests.
  • Looking at the birth date of the woman written in the paper, Lexus made some calculations and his face suddenly glow. Her age somewhat matched the age of the missing golden she-wolf. “Would she be the missing golden she-wolf?” he whispered.
  • Lexus looked at the piece of paper in his hand again. Afterward, his feet slowly moved to go in the direction of the garden studio unit where he can find the possible missing golden she-wolf.
  • He knocked on the door of the studio unit several times but no one opened it. Three more knocks and he stopped from knocking. He walked away and decided to return to the reception area.
  • At that moment, Daffodil is at the resort’s restaurant having an early dinner. She controlled herself from posting anything related to her whereabouts in any of her social media accounts. She does not want anyone to know where she is right now.
  • Daff feasted on seafoods dishes in the restaurant and fresh fruit juice. She was perfectly full after having her meal. To burn down what she had eaten she decided to walk by the shore and at the same time watch the sun as it slowly hides from the world.
  • Then the warm air suddenly blew caressing her flush face, letting her breath its freshness, and ohh, there is that smell again of peppermint menthol scent that truly warms her heart, letting it relax and forget the many intricacies she left behind in her office.
  • She further walked until she saw a speed boat docked at the far end side of the beach. As she came nearing the speedboat, that peppermint menthol scent seems to be becoming stronger, making her senses grew more relaxed.
  • Lexus who returned to his speedboat to get his things as he decided to stay in the resort until tomorrow or until he saw the possible missing golden she-wolf, immediately alighted therefrom when his nose trills have been filled again by that sweet lilac fragrance.
  • From the speedboat, Daffodil’s attention has been caught by a sturdy man who alighted with ease therefrom and is now watching her so intently. His eyes are vividly staring at her while his forehead seems to be furrowing.
  • Daffodil’s feet suddenly became rooted on the warm white sands; it could not move for another step. She stood there frozen when a soft voice all of a sudden conquered her silence, telling her this word, “MATE.”
