Chapter 7 Acupuncture

  • “Deal,” Finnegan said, then turned around and handed the check he was holding to Patrick. “Mr. Zimmerman, I kindly ask you to bear witness for us.”
  • The bet was established, and Finnegan promptly ushered everyone out of the ward, leaving only Jennifer behind.
  • At this point, Jennifer didn't dare to lose her temper anymore. She quietly asked, “Young man, how are you going to treat my daughter?”
  • Finnegan's nostrils subtly flared, detecting a delicate scent wafting in the atmosphere. Immediately, he understood the reason behind Bernice's unconsciousness.
  • She had been influenced by an aroma incense known as “A Thousand Dreams.”
  • This mysterious incense was non-toxic and had an excellent sedative effect on those suffering from insomnia. However, it couldn't be used for an extended period. Otherwise, one would fall into a deep sleep from which they could not awaken, and the cause would be undetectable. To counteract this, one needed to find another type of aroma incense known as “The Awakening” to reverse the effects.
  • A treatment plan immediately formed in his heart. “Remove Ms. Zimmerman's clothes. I need to administer acupuncture.”
  • Huh?
  • No one knows a daughter better than her mother. Jennifer's expression revealed her inner turmoil as she deeply understood her daughter's personality.
  • But considering that Finnegan had just cured Alexander in a short amount of time, Jennifer made up her mind. “All right, I'll listen to you.”
  • If Bernice were to awaken, then accepting a minor loss would be justified. However, if she remained unconscious, they would need to settle the score with Finnegan.
  • She walked to the side of the bed and began to undress Bernice, revealing her skin as white as snow, along with her body, which was like a work of art.
  • This was the first time Finnegan had seen a girl's body. Despite having prepared himself, he couldn't help but be attracted. He quietly swallowed a gulp.
  • Jennifer stepped aside in embarrassment, and Finnegan stepped forward, his emotions in check. He unfurled a collection of golden needles that glinted faintly in the illumination.
  • After a simple disinfection, he skillfully picked up the golden needles and swiftly inserted eighteen of them.
  • This was the mysteries of medicine that Finnegan had learned from Mephisto. It was a part of the ancient and nearly forgotten practice of traditional medicine.
  • Jennifer didn't understand acupuncture, but she could tell that Finnegan's speed of inserting the needles was frighteningly fast. Seeing his serious expression, devoid of any mischief, she felt somewhat reassured.
  • Having administered acupuncture, Finnegan placed his palms on Bernice's body, using a peculiar massage technique to induce perspiration. Gradually, a red glow began to emanate from his palms, a sight that left Jennifer astounded.
  • However, the thought of his daughter being touched in such a way left her with a complex mix of emotions.
  • Ten minutes later, Bernice's body began to flush and sweat, and the sweet scent in the air became more intense.
  • After twenty minutes, Bernice appeared as though she had been soaked in water, with even the bed sheets dampened. The room was permeated with a fragrance akin to a spritz of perfume. The aroma was so tranquilizing that it induced a desire for sleep.
  • After nearly half an hour, Bernice stopped sweating. Finnegan exhaled deeply and withdrew the golden needles.
  • Almost as soon as the golden needles were removed, Bernice opened her eyes. Her first sensation was a slight chill, followed by the realization that she was unclothed, with a man beside her.
  • Before Jennifer could approach in joy, Bernice let out a sharp scream and lifted her leg to kick Finnegan. “Pervert!”
  • “She sweated a lot. Let her drink more water first. I'm leaving.”
  • Although Bernice's feet were quite attractive, Finnegan did not have a peculiar fetish for being kicked. Moreover, Bernice's vigorous movements made him dizzy. He feared that if he stayed any longer, he might get a nosebleed.
  • Looking embarrassed and angry, Bernice said aggrievedly, “Mom, did you really give me away? Did you just stand by while he molested me?”
  • “I didn't. That young man came to treat your illness. You've been unconscious for over a month.”
  • Jennifer was moved to tears. She briefly recounted what had happened to Bernice.
  • A significant amount of Bernice's anger subsided after she listened to her mother's words. However, the thought of her precious body being seen and touched by a man filled her with immense shyness. “Where did you find him? What's his name?”
  • Reflecting for a moment, Jennifer recalled what her husband had said. “He came by himself. I think his name is Finnegan Larkin!”
  • “Finnegan Larkin? His name is Finnegan Larkin?”
  • Patrick and Alexander had been outside the door, and both of them had heard Bernice's voice.
  • “Mr. Larkin, thank you.”
  • Finnegan said calmly, “Mr. Zimmerman, you're too kind.” He then turned to look at Joel. “Dr. Griffin, isn't it time to honor our bet?”
  • Everyone turned to look at Joel, remembering that the two had just made a bet.
  • “I...”
  • Joel's face turned red, a clear sign of his distress. He was indeed impressed by Finnegan's medical skills, yet he was at a loss as to where he could procure a hundred million. He was filled with regret at that moment.
  • Patrick's face darkened. “Dr. Griffin, I am a witness here. You're not going to renege on your promise, are you?”
