Cindy trembled, her eyes welling up with tears as Finnegan's harsh tone pierced through her. "Why are you shouting at me? What did I do wrong?" she pleaded, her voice filled with hurt. "I took care of you all last night, and this is how you repay me?"
Noticing her distress, Finnegan let out a soft sigh and released her hand. "Okay, tell me what really happened then. You must know something, right? Bernice would have told you, wouldn't she? Why else would you have stayed by my side all day yesterday?"
Cindy's eyes shimmered as she replied, "Bernice made her decision out of disappointment in you, not because she was forced."
