- I stood there, my patience hanging by a thread. The nerve of that clerk, mocking me in front of everyone as if she had the right. The moment Dylan revealed I was the largest shareholder, I saw the realization hit her like a slap in the face. Her defiance crumbled into panic, and I could almost taste her fear. But it wasn’t enough.
- “Please,” the clerk stammered, her eyes wide as she suddenly fell to her knees. “I didn’t know. I’m so sorry! Please, I need this job. I didn’t mean to offend you. I didn’t know who you were.”
