• We were stuck, not sure where to go next, so we thought of one last option: Lionel’s Beta. Maybe he would help us. Mr. and Mrs. Smith looked at me, worry in their eyes, and asked, "Are you sure he’d want to see you?" They sounded uncertain, almost like they knew something I didn’t.
• But what choice did we have? We had to take a chance, even if it was a long shot. I nodded. "We got to try." It was the only thing I could think to say, even though part of me wasn’t so sure either. With Mr. and Mrs. Smith guiding us, we set out to find where Beta Ben lived.
