Chapter 54 When Is It Enough?

• There is a loud shudder as Todd slams the front door closed behind us. In the wink of an eye, he has spun around and has me firmly locked in place against the very door. “I asked you a question, Lexi.” His warm breath, laced with the smell of beer falls heavy on my cheek while his bloodshot eyes pierce deep into mine, seeking the very answer, yet, “I asked you a fucking question? Have you been with Lucas again?”
• “Todd, please,” my words come strained as I beg, “Please stop. Let me fucking go. You are hurting me.” Yet the more I try to rip my hands away from his grip, he only digs his fingers deeper into my flesh.
• “I said answer me, Lexi!”
