- I woke up choking.
- Not on air. On awareness.
- It slammed into me all at once, violent and disorienting, like someone had ripped a door off its hinges inside my skull and forgotten to warn me first. My heart kicked hard against my ribs. My fingers curled, scraping stone that was too cold, too loud, too present.
