Chapter 2 Consequences
- EPISODE TWO.
- "Joshua." I call, gazing at him with beady eyes, hoping he can probably mirror my intentions from barely staring at me, so he can know that this is none of my fault but instead, he watches me with contempt. His fists curl up furiously that his knuckles almost burst through the skin.
- "God damnit!"The guy curses under his tone again, his hands go over his mouth and rub on it furiously, as if he's trying to get a hang of the situation.
- The situation that he put me into.
- "We've been looking for you."Joshua finally says but the words barely came out audibly, he grits his teeth in anger.
- Tears pour from my eyes, because there's no way I will talk myself out of this situation that I just put myself into.
- "I just woke up and I..."
- "You must have had a good night's sleep."He scoffs, walking deeply into the room with his hands beside him.
- The guy leaned on the door, watching frantically.
- "It's not what you think. I swear on my life. I didn't know what happened. I..."
- "You told me you had an emergency last night. I didn't know it was all about you getting laid before our wedding day." He laughs but it borders on a sob.
- All I could see is a man whose life just crumbles in front of him, and the stupid and naive me made it happen.
- I burst into tears and wrap the sheets around me, not minding if it's right or not, I walk up to him but John takes a few steps back immediately.
- "Don't you dare inch towards me. Because heaven knows my hands aren't shaking just for a show." He threatens, his lips tremble tremendously in anger.
- Sobs rack my throat. I collapse slowly on the floor, not knowing what to say or do.
- How do I get him to believe that none of this happened in my volition? What do I tell John that will stop him from doubting me and go on with this wedding like we planned?
- Because walking out of here with no ring on my hand? I might as well start planning to get a coffin for myself.
- "What? You're going to punch her face for screwing you up?" The guy teases John in a rather sarcastic tone.
- John charges towards him in rage immediately, but he is fast enough to ram him into the glass table, making him crash into the glass, bruising his whole face.
- "Oh my God!"
- "Fuck." John groans and turns painfully, wincing.
- I run to where he is immediately in fear and try to get him out of the glass but he pushes me off in anger.
- "I'm sorry. I didn't do this intentionally. I swear to God!" I sob, slamming my hands on the floor but he didn't budge.
- "You should get ready to give me that cooked up story when I bring you to the convent. Because they sure as hell won't buy this shitty narration." John said, his vein bulges and pops through his face, glaring at me.
- "It's the truth, I woke up and found myself here."
- "You even made him throw me into the glass. Oh,God. You're such a bitch."
- "It wasn't my fault."I cried angrily. Tired of saying the same words over and over again.
- Soon, we had company which involved my best friend, Ria and some other men dressed in suits who are conversing with the guy I slept with.
- "Selah. What the hell happened here?"Ria shouts in panic and rushes towards me.
- "Are you okay? What..." She trailed off the moment the situation trickles into her head.
- "Jesus Christ."She reared back immediately, staring at me gobsmacked.
- "It's not what you think."I sob, shaking my head.
- "You might as well explain how I found you on the bed with a random guy who almost had me killed." John butts in, ignoring the paramedic trying to absolve the situation.
- "What?"Ria recoils again, her mouth goes agape.
- I burst into tears again, wrapping the sheets around me, hoping that everything will go off quickly just like they came, because heaven knows I'm not ready for the consequences that come with my actions.
- No one will believe the words of a woman who drank a day to her wedding day just to end up with a stranger who beat the shit out of her husband.
- I might just be good as dead.
- "Let's get you out of this place." Ria says quickly, grabbing every piece of my clothing around.
- She passes the shredded dress which John got me for our wedding party to me with an angry expression on her face.
- Who would want such a unfilial woman like me for her brother? I disappointed her already and I don't know how to redeem the trust back.
- I collect the clothes from her, this is not the time for me to play hanky panky with my thoughts, I stagger to the bathroom to get myself washed up.
- After a few minutes, I walked out with a tussled and ripped dress on me, she quickly cover me with a coat and led me out of the door.
- Surprisingly, the guy was still there, talking angrily to the men I saw earlier.
- "Is he the one?"Ria asks, I sniffles and manage to nod to her answer shamefully.
- As if he heard us talking about him, he marches to where we are.
- "I'm sorry about your wedding. I..."
- "If you're that sorry about what you did to me, then, you'd better be ready to be sorry for yourself when I walk you to jail."
- "What?" He looks gutted. As if he's just been slammed with the biggest threat in all his entire life.
- "Don't try to weasel your way out of this. Because I won't be cutting you any slack."
- "Maybe you didn't hear me right, woman. I didn't apologize for what happened last night. I'm sorry for what happened to your wedding, and that's me trying to be human. If you still have the balls to file a lawsuit against me, then, you'd better be ready to prove that this isn't a goddamn rape."
- "You condescending son of a bitch." Ria curses under her tone which he hears loud and clear.
- He scoffs and strides dramatically to where he is.
- "You might as well be familiar with my name when filing your suit. I'm Romans and when I said you should be ready to prove that what happened isn't the actions of two consenting adults, I wasn't joking." The cheeky smirk came up on his face again, he threw a small golden slip at me which is his business card and walked out with his men.
- Ria grips her arm around me and walks me out of the room.
- "Ria...."
- "You should worry about the people you're going to be explaining this shitty situation to. You have a whole lot of things to explain, Selah." She cut me off, talking slowly like she's trying to calm her nerves down.
- I bit my lips back in tears, because one thing is for sure, I'm in a deep shit of trouble.
