• “Did she say anything when she was leaving?” Lena asked Alex, who had been trying to clean her room quietly for the past twenty minutes. But Lena had decided to be the chatty one today.
• Alex hesitated, as if trying to focus on sweeping. But then she paused and looked at Lena, who was sitting on the bed.
• “For the last time Lena, I and Bridget were never friends. How on earth do you expect her to speak to me when she was almost in tears as she dragged her suitcase out of the house?”
