Chapter 7 A Househelp Needed

  • Landon took a warm shower feeling so tired after his stressful but amazing day. He fell on his bed with his shorts on, staring at the ceiling. A smile crept on his face as soon as he remembered the whole drama of the day. His day has never been so fun.
  • He loved the way he frustrated Kimberly, though he had never had anyone's time the way he had Kimberly's. He sprang to his feet filled with the desire to know about her. He walked to his table where his PC laid.
  • He switched it on and went online in search of her. Luckily for him, he caught a glimpse of her name so he used the search engine. "Kimberly Johnson." He typed and it brought out almost everything about her. Her Facebook handle also came on the screen.
  • He clicked on her Facebook account and it brought out her profile. The school she graduated from, and her location. Her pictures and her phone number. He clicked on her profile photo and smiled as soon as he got a clearer look at her face. She had some slight makeup on and had red lipstick. She was a beauty with a lot of Ego.
  • He checked her location and it brought it out. It was a street in Golden City. He then copied her phone number on his phone and dialed it. He just wanted to know if it was still working or not.
  • Kimberly, who was busy eating the pizza she ordered in sadness, heard her phone ring. She picked up the phone and checked the caller to see it was an unknown number.
  • She didn't want to pick up because she wasn't in the mood, then she remembered it could be one of the companies she had been to that promised to call her. "But why would they call at past ten in the night?" She asked herself before finally picking up.
  • "Hello." She said calmly and as soon as Landon heard her voice he hung up smiling. "So this is her number." He said to himself saving the number with 'Egocentric Kimberly Johnson.' He smiled after saving it and walked back to his bed to sleep.
  • Kimberly tossed her phone to the other side of the table in frustration. "Whosoever is joking with me should better stop because I ain't in the mood for shit right now." She mumbled as she began to play with her pizza. Her phone rang again and she hit the table in anger.
  • "What the hell!" She yelled, reaching for her phone. She planned on yelling at the person Immediately she picked up but she was calm when she saw Danielle calling. She sighed and picked up sitting on her chair again. "Hey Babe, you asked me to call. What's up?" Danielle said, sounding very tired.
  • "Danielle. I am not good at all." Kim replied in a shaky tone. "What's wrong? You sound sad." Danielle replied, worriedly.
  • "I came back the same, Danielle. Even outside Golden City, they don't want me. I spent all the money I had on me, and if not for the generous taxi driver, I wouldn't have dinner tonight." Kim said, and Danielle sighed.
  • "Kimberly, don't you think you have done enough of going around with your credentials? Why not start something by yourself without the use of your certificate." She suggested, and Kim exhaled. "It's not that easy. Before I can do that I need capital, and I have nothing on me. I have only USD 10 presently, which implies I can't go out tomorrow, and I can't send anything home for my sick father's bills." Kim lamented in tears.
  • "I am so sorry Kim, I should be there with you now," Danielle said sadly. "No, it's fine. I know you are too busy with work and you can't jeopardize that." Kim said, making Danielle feel bad. "I can help you with some money but you will have to refund because I don't have much on me either. I should not be asking you but things are also tight for me. I am so sorry." She said, and Kim's eyes widened in happiness.
  • "No, it's fine! I will refund it. But it may take some time, I would have to find something to do." Kim said. "You need to be fast about finding a job, Kim. I hate the way things are with you, babe. I will send the money to your bank account now." Danielle said, and Kim’s face brightened.
  • "Thank you so much, Danielle. I love you so much, thanks for always being there." Kim stated, and Danielle smiled. "Talk to you soon," Dan said and hung up. Kim looked up with a smile on her face. "Thank you, God. At least, I would send something to Mother." She thought happily.
  • Her phone beeped and she quickly reached for it and checked her screen to see it was a notification from Google. She hissed and was about to ignore it when she saw it was from Landon Hernandez's news. The one she read earlier at the restaurant. She clicked on it and she saw the headline. "A HOUSEHELP NEEDED"
  • She read aloud and scoffed. She scrolled down and saw that more than 2,000 people were interested, both female and male. "Woah, why are many people so interested in this kind of job?" She asked herself, reading through the news and then her eyes caught with the pay.
  • "OMG!! USD 600 every month?!! Just to be a maid?? That's f**king huge!" She exclaimed. No wonder there are so many people interested. "Should I apply?" She asked herself knowing she may not even see up to that in a company due to her grades.
  • "No! I can't! Landon Hernandez would feel so full of himself when he learns I applied." She thought, shaking the thoughts of enrolling again. Then she remembered her father's state in the hospital and she knew she had to do something. She bit her fingers anxiously and then made a decision.
  • She would keep her pride aside for her father and enroll. And after a month, she would leave after collecting her salary. Then she can start her own mini business with that. "Okay. You should do this Kim. Your Father needs this more than you, and you can't get married to Alexander because of money. So this is the only choice you get." She said breathing in and out before clicking on the ‘interested’ button.
  • It brought out a form for her to fill and she filled every space without hesitation. She got to the last part of the documents without even reading the terms and conditions. She was too desperate to start reading two pages of what to do and what not to do. She believed it would be normal so she got space for her signature, and she signed on it.
  • She scrolled down and then saw the two more spaces which were meant to be signed by an unknown man to her and Landon Hernandez. "So much stress for anticipating being a House help." She mumbled switching off her phone. She threw the rest of the pizza in the fridge and walked to her room.
  • "Oh Lord, let me be picked as the maid! I need this more than any of them. And please don't let Landon Hernandez act like a d**k when I get their cos I won't be able to take it." She prayed before finally slamming into the bed. She breathed out loud placing her two hands on her belly before finally shutting her eyes to sleep.
