Chapter 5 Humiliated

  • Kimberly hopped into Landon's Mercedes-Benz car and sat next to him at the back of the car. The driver ignited the engine and began to drive down the road. "Can you please explain why you are taking me to your office?" She asked, looking at Landon who was busy on his phone.
  • "I told you already, dummy. To discuss business." He said smirking as he kept punching his phone. "But we have nothing about business here." She said, and he sighed looking at her. "You talk too much. You are in search of a job, aren't you?" He asked, and she nodded.
  • "Yes, and so?" She asked rudely. "I want to offer you one." He said, and her eyes widened. "Oh My God! Do you want to give me a job? But why? We aren't friends." She said, and he smirked.
  • "I know we aren't friends. But I need someone desperately. And you also need a job desperately. So that makes the both of us." He said grinning, and Kimberly felt butterflies in her belly. "Was he going to get me a job! Just like that?" She thought, furrowing her brows as she looked at him.
  • "Stop staring." He said coldly and she looked away quickly, swallowing hard. "Are you doing this to punish me? Or to help me?" She asked, and he smirked. "Both." He responded, still keeping himself busy on his phone. She sighed and looked out the window trying to enjoy her ride with the annoying brat.
  • After minutes of driving, the driver rode into the company's compound, and Kimberly looked at Landon who was also gazed out of the window. She admired his looks and deep down she knew he was very handsome and hot looking. But she hated just one thing, his arrogance, and pride.
  • "Ma'am." She heard the driver call, jolting her out of her thoughts. "Can you please alight?" He asked her, and she nodded, looking up to see Landon walking into the company with his hands in his pockets, making his back view very hot.
  • "Thanks." She said to the driver as he helped her open the door. She stepped down, carrying her bag with her. She walked into the main entrance, trailing behind Landon. He got into the elevator and stepped in staring at Kim as she approached. She got on the elevator and Landon pressed the number four on the door and the door shut.
  • Kim swallowed hard looking at Landon with the corner of her eyes and then her eyes caught up with his hands that were still in his pockets. She could see his veins at the back of his hand and they looked very sexy.
  • Landon, who wasn't staring at the door, noticed Kim was looking at him and he smirked. It's not a shocker to him, all girls stare at him. He suddenly turned his head to look at her and she looked away quickly and coughed slightly.
  • He kept smirking as he looked forward and the door opened. He waited for Kim to step forward, and she, not knowing what he was up to, looked at him.
  • "Go on." He said to her, and she nodded, walking out of the elevator. Immediately she got out, she felt the cool atmosphere of his office. The air condition was very effective, and she wanted to stay there for the rest of her life.
  • She shut her eyes and smiled, she was almost opening her arms when Landon spoke up. "You aren't allowed to do that here. This is a business area." He said coldly, walking to his desk. and she quickly opened her eyes. "Sorry." She stated before thinking. She walked into his office and stood in front of his desk staring at him as he switched on his PC.
  • "So why are you here?" He asked, and Kimberly furrowed her brows. “Why am I here? You asked me to come with you to your office." Kim said, feeling so confused. Landon picked up his phone and put a call across to his secretary.
  • "I need you in here now." He said, and Kim bent her head a little to look at his face. "Why is he acting so weird?" She thought but kept mute. The secretary opened the door behind Kim and walked up to his desk too. "Sir." She said, bowing slightly.
  • "Can you please ask this lady what she wants?" He said, and Kim's mouth dropped open. "You know what I want." She said unbelievably. She knew she should have known he was going to play pranks on her. "What are you here for?" The secretary asked. "To secure a job of course. Aren't the credentials obvious?" Kim replied, waving her file in the air angrily.
  • "She is here for a Job, sir." The secretary replied, looking at Landon who was enjoying himself. "Ohh right. And are there any vacancies?" He asked again, and the secretary shook her head. "No sir." She responded, and he waved her to leave.
  • "Why did you bring me back here when you know you won't help me?" Kim asked angrily. "Submit your Credentials." He said, ignoring her rage, and she scoffed, dropping the file on the table.
  • Landon reached for it and opened it, checking them out one after the other, and suddenly he burst into laughter.
  • "What's funny?" Kim asked. She felt humiliated. "Your grades are too poor for you to work anywhere. I can't even make you my maid with this." He said amidst laughter, and Kimberly felt so hurt and embarrassed. "Thanks for the compliment." She said, pushing in the tears that threatened to fall out and picking up her papers from his presence.
  • "I can help you." He said, and Kim kept packing her papers. "I should have known you just wanted to get back at me, and nothing else. Well, congratulations, you won." She said in a shaky tone as she walked to the door. "Be my Maid. I mean, House help, and I will pay you." He said, trying not to burst into laughter. That ego in her needs to be taught a lesson.
  • "What?" She asked in fury, feeling ridiculed.
