• "My name is still Jed and you're doing just fine Jason. You want to hear a secret..." Jason nodded and Jedidiah continued, "I'm scared shitless. We're just going to introduce you to the suit that's all. We're stalling for a little time so the sheriff can get someone across the street."
• Trooper March concurred with Jedidiah, and also spoke words of courage and encouragement to his stepson.
• Jed looked into the boy's eyes, "Of course I will understand if you don't want to wear the costume during the parade."
