Chapter 24 Close To You

• I left the hospital with Nikolas and Jeremy. I couldn't wait to get home. However, I couldn't stop thinking about Sarafina's words. She said Nikolas would toss me aside once the baby was born. What if I don't want to be tossed aside? What if I want to stay and help Nikolas raise the baby? I can't give it up.
• I stand on the balcony, watching the young wolves play in the garden. I recognize Reuben's tawny wolf. I wonder why they are here today, but hearing laughter around the house is good for my soul. I can't help but smile, holding my tiny baby bump. Will it be like them?
• I feel a presence and turn to look at Nikolas. He's from work, still in a black work suit, smiling softly at me, and I can't help but smile, too.
