Chapter 24 Lance
- Calyx City appeared to be a different place at night. The yellow street lights gave it an enchanting presence. Shadows obscured its imperfections, hiding the evilness in the dark alleys and narrow roads. It almost looked flawless, like a carnival tempting you to sample its pleasures.
- Poetic bullshit aside, the city, despite the new costume, smelled as shitty as ever. It could paint itself with whatever color it liked, but the hideous smell of death and corruption remained. I left my getaway car on a random street, pulled the collar of my leather jacket tighter around my face, and then continued on foot toward the city center.
- There was a strange buzzing under my skin, which made my wolf extremely agitated. It didn't help that I still had no concrete plans about that bastard, Adrian. At the very least, the mission was a success.
