• Adrian was waiting for me when we climbed out of the car after Lance and I switched places again from the driver's seat. Connor's tears were already gone when he followed us towards the mansion's front doors. Lance looked calm. At first glance, no one could tell that we just had an impromptu interrogation while on the road.
• Nothing got past the eyes of Galway's Pack Alpha, though.
• As I approached Adrian, he looked at me from head to toe. His eyes turned darker after doing so. When I was within arm's reach, he grabbed me by my bicep.
