Chapter 6

  • She picked her bag up while the rest did the same except Kelvin who had no bag to carry. Unlike the rest, he did not carry out any task that kept him out of school for a while. He isn't a high school student like they are either.
  • Jabal groaned. "But I don't feel like going to school"
  • "You don't feel like doing what?" Jasmine asked, furrowing her brows.
  • "Whatever" Jabal muttered, standing up.
  • Jasmine scoffed but said nothing.
  • "Can I walk you guys to school?" Kelvin asked.
  • "Aren't you suppose to be at school too?" Jasmine asked.
  • "You mean the demon university?" he asked. "I can only go to school when I am ready to go back to the demon realm"
  • "How about applying for a transfer?" Jabal asked.
  • "You can go to any human university of your choice," Ariana said.
  • "That way he won't have to miss much," Ryan said.
  • "I think that is a good idea," Jamal said.
  • "Guys, how about you talk about this on your way to school?" Ella said and they chuckled.
  • "I bet she really, wants us out of the house," Jasmine said to Ariana in a whisper.
  • "I heard you, Jasmine. And yes, I want you all out of the house. Now get going" Ella said, gesturing with her hand.
  • Ariana moved closer to her mom and hugged her. "Bye, mom"
  • Ella groaned. "Hey, you should be on your way to school," she said as she tried to push Ariana away.
  • Jasmine joined in the hug and Ella groaned.
  • "Bye, Ella," Jasmine said.
  • "Go, go, go," Ella said and they ran out of the house.
  • They had noticed Jabal, Jamal, Ryan, and Kelvin, had left the house already, but when they got outside, they noticed they were outside waiting for them.
  • "Why did you not wait for us?" Jasmine asked when they joined them.
  • "And let us get to school late?" Jabal asked and Jasmine hissed.
  • "You would have at least told us you were leaving"
  • "Do we even owe you an explanation?" Jabal asked and Jasmine frowned.
  • "Are you..."
  • "Are we going to walk to school or take the car?" Jamal asked trying to change the topic.
  • "We are late already. Taking the car will be the best option" Ryan said and they all agreed to that.
  • "I will drive you to school and bring back the car," Kelvin said. "Jasmine can seat with me in the front and the rest of you can fix yourselves in the back seats"
  • Since everyone agreed to it, Ariana headed back inside to get the key to one of the cars and handed it to Kelvin. They all headed to the park and entered the car.
  • "Are you going to stay in the coven until we return?" Jasmine asked as they drove to school.
  • "Yes. But I might have to visit a few places first" Kelvin replied.
  • "When do you plan to go to the demon realm?"
  • "I don't think I will be going there anytime soon"
  • "Why? You don't want to go alone? We can go with you if you don't want to go alone"
  • He shrugged. "I am not ready to face them yet. That is the reason I am not going"
  • Jasmine sighed. She can understand why Kelvin doesn't feel like going yet. Knowing that his uncle is after his life is enough reason to want to stay away. She smiled at him.
  • "Anytime you are ready, we will go with you," Jabal said and Kelvin smiled.
  • "Thanks" he muttered. There was silence throughout the rest of the journey until we got to school. "We are finally here" Kelvin announced and they alighted from the car. "See you guys later," he said.
  • "Bye," they wave at him.
  • "Are you coming to pick us up?" Jabal asked.
  • "No?"
  • "Are you saying we are walking back?"
  • "Sure" Kelvin muttered and drove off before Jabal could say another word.
  • Jabal scoffed. "I can't believe he left without letting me speak. He is so rude"
  • "Is that word coming from you?" Jasmine and he frowned.
  • "Shouldn't..."
  • "Ariana, Ryan, I am off to class," Jamal said walking away. He wasn't ready to listen to the endless conversation between the twins.
  • Ariana and Ryan who weren't ready either, without telling them, walked away. It took the twins time to notice they were alone.
  • Jasmine groaned. "Did they really, leave us?"
  • "You had better not be asking me that" Jabal answered walking away.
  • Jabal met with Ariana and Ryan who were waiting for them.
  • "Where is Jasmine?" Ariana asked. "Did you leave her behind?"
  • "Is she a baby? Why should I come in with her?" Jabal asked.
  • "Of course, I am not a baby. And I never asked you to wait for me"
  • "Whatever" Jabal muttered walking into the class.
  • **
  • The school wasn't as they had expected it to be. Though they had been out of school for just three weeks, it felt different. The environment was not familiar either. None of the faces was familiar to them.
  • "Could their classmates be out of school already?" Jabal thought.
  • To all of them, these new classmates of theirs don't seem friendly at all, and unlike the last time, when their absence from school wasn't noticed, the student looked at them like they are all transferred students.
  • "Aren't they too old to be in this class?" one of the students had whispered to another.
  • It was so loud they heard him clearly, though it was supposed to be a whisper.
  • "I think they missed their ways" another had answered. "I can show you to your class if you don't mind. I think it's on the last floor" he said in sarcasm.
  • He spoke with so much confidence and rudeness that it made Jabal feel so irritated. He moved closer to him and whispered.
  • "Do you want to know if we missed our way?" Jabal asked in a whisper, glaring at the boy who looked surprised and at the same time confused. Jabal's eyes were as red as a burning fire, piercing so deep into the boy's eyes. He suddenly began to feel hurt. "Do you want to know? Or rather do you still want to take us to our class on the last floor?" Jabal asked.
  • "I...i... I didn't mean it that way" he stuttered vigorously. "I am so sorry"
  • The rest of the students stared at them in surprise. That was the first time seeing their classmate stutter. It was also the first time they see him apologize. He was always full of confidence and they know him to be a bully who doesn't fear anyone. They did not know what had transpired between them to have made him stutter that way.
  • Jasmine, Ariana, and Ryan were the only ones who knew what was going on but they weren't ready to help him out either. He was rude and they think he deserves to be punished. They found their way to empty seats leaving the boy to Jabal.
  • Jabal kept staring at him and he began to sweat. He picked up a book to fan himself, laughing uncomfortably. Everyone found it strange except for Ariana, Jasmine, and Ryan.
  • "You over there why are you standing?" a teacher who had just walked in said and Jabal stood straight. Without saying a word he walked to his seat. The teacher stared at Jabal until he was seated. When the teacher walked up to the board to write, the students began to murmur. They had expected the teacher to say something. "Settle down class," he said and they stopped murmuring.
  • The rest of the class was quiet as the students kept staring at the strange students that had joined them.
  • When the first class was over, Jabal walked out of the class. He was done receiving class for now, because he wasn't ready to face another set of rude students.
  • "What class do you have now?" Ariana asked.
  • "Music" Jasmine replied.
  • "Same as Ryan. I have French now. I guess I will have to leave you guys" Ariana said and Jasmine nodded.
  • "Bye" Jasmine waved at Ariana. "Ryan, let's go"
