Chapter 5

  • After spending a few days in the earth witches' coven. Kelvin and Ryan returned to the Munar pack. While the rest remain in the earth witches' coven. Anna had returned to the red-haired witches' coven a day after the children returned. Anderson visited the earth witches' coven. After having a little conversation with Emerald and Ella, he returned to his home with Jamal and Jabal, leaving Jasmine and Ariana in the coven.
  • "What are we going to do now?" Ariana asked after everyone had left.
  • They are seated on two stones that are close to the river, their legs deep into the water. They do not have many things to do and there is no one available to talk to. Emerald and Ella were in the office going through some files, giving them no other option but to room about. Mira, Ariana's friend had gone out on an errand for her mother and might not be returning soon. They had walked for a while talking about random things but when they got tired and decided to seat down.
  • "I don't have anything in mind. Do you?" Jasmine asked.
  • "I don't either. Maybe we should have gone with the boys" Ariana said and Jasmine nodded.
  • When the boys asked them to go with them, they should have agreed and gone with them.
  • "Is this coven always like this? I mean quiet with not many things to do?"
  • "Well, I can't say it is and I can't say it is not"
  • "Did you not spend most of your life here? I mean here in the earth coven"
  • Ariana nodded. "Yes, I did. But funny enough it remains a place I can't understand. It doesn't feel like home anymore"
  • "How about the red-haired witches' coven? Does it feel like home?"
  • Ariana smiled. "It does feel like home. Maybe it's because I feel accepted there than I feel here"
  • "But you are born here"
  • "Yes I am but I guess my new status doesn't suit them"
  • "But I love your red hair"
  • Ariana smiled. "Thanks"
  • "Do you bad not been accepted here?"
  • "At first I did. But now I do not feel bad anymore"
  • "Does your mom know about it?"
  • "I never told her about it but I don't know if she noticed though"
  • "How come you never spoke about it? Not to anyone of us"
  • "There are a lot of things for us to worry about. I can't let things like that get in our way"
  • Jasmine nodded. Ariana is right. Though it feels bad not being accepted where you are been accepted before, they need to focus on getting the great book of the witches and returning it to where it belongs.
  • "I feel sorry for you though," Jasmine said. "I can't say I know how it feels to be treated the way you are treated but I know what it feels like being treated differently"
  • Ariana furrowed her brows. "You do?"
  • Jasmine nodded. "I do. You don't know the pain of being the only girl amidst two boys and being treated as weak"
  • Ariana chuckled. "Do you feel that bad about it?"
  • She nodded. "I feel terrible about it"
  • Ariana sighed. "I guess we feel the same". She sat up and smiled. "Can we stop talking about us? It makes me feel creepy and awkward, you know?"
  • Jasmine nodded in agreement. "I was about to say that too. I am beginning to feel uncomfortable with the atmosphere"
  • "Then what should we talk about?"
  • Jasmine placed her hand into the river and fetched some water. "The water feels nice"
  • Ariana placed her hand inside the water too. "You are right"
  • "The air feels nice too," Ariana said.
  • Jasmine nodded. "Yes, it does feel nice"
  • She smiled. "I can't wait to return to school once more and feel like a normal child. I feel abnormal you know?"
  • Ariana chuckled. "Back to school back to stress"
  • "Back to assignments, presentations, projects, and even exams"
  • "Isn't our final exams coming up in a few weeks?"
  • Jasmine nodded. "Yes, I think five more weeks"
  • "Will we be able to write the exams without having to carry out a task or two?"
  • "I think we should be able to write it for as long as the book doesn't show up"
  • "But we need to talk about the vampire Queen. She's been missing for weeks now"
  • "I almost forget that. Let's talk to the rest when we get to school tomorrow"
  • "Exactly. We need to find her as soon as possible so we can focus on school and hope the book doesn't show up until after our exams"
  • Jasmine nodded. "Yeah". There was silence for a while until Jasmine spoke up. "I feel light now"
  • Ariana nodded. "Me too"
  • Jasmine stood up. "I think we can go now"
  • Ariana stood up and they headed back to the house.
  • It was past seven. Jasmine and Ariana were already dressed in their uniform. They were both eager to go back to school after a month of absence.
  • "Do you think our absence will not be noticed just like the last time?" Jasmine asked.
  • "I don't think so and even if it is noticed, it doesn't matter. Or does it?" Ariana answered.
  • "it doesn't. Going back to school and breathing in a different air is what matters" Jasmine said and Ariana nodded.
  • "What are you both still doing in there?" Ella said, popping her head into the room. "You will be late for school if you remind in there"
  • "We will be out soon, mother" Ariana answered.
  • "Breakfast is served. Don't let it get cold"
  • "ok mother," Ariana said.
  • "Ok, ma'am," Jasmine said.
  • "I will leave you both to finish up. By the way, the boys are here already"
  • "Is Jabal here too?" Jasmine asked and Ella smiled.
  • "Yes and even Kelvin too" Ella replied and Jasmine smiled.
  • She had wanted to ask if Kelvin was with Jabal and Jamal since they had all agreed to meet up here. But she decided to ask after Jabal instead because she doesn't want them to feel she misses him or so she thought. After Ella left, they quickly finish dressing up and hurried to join the boys in the living room.
  • "Here come the early birds," Jabal said in sarcasm and Jasmine scoffed.
  • "The fact that you are here early doesn't mean we are late"
  • "Are you trying to say you are not late?" Jabal asked.
  • "Our breakfast is going to get cold" Ariana who knew there might be a heated fight soon said and Jamal nodded in agreement.
  • "And we won't want to get to school late on our first day back to school," he said.
  • Jasmine decided to ignore Jabal's ranting. She sat down to eat. "By the way, good morning everyone," she said.
  • This time, it was Jabal's time to scoff. "Should it not have been good morning everyone rather than by the way good morning everyone?"
  • Jasmine frowned. It seems Jabal is bent on getting on her nerve this morning.
  • "Can you please ignore him?" Jamal whispered to her and she sighed.
  • Ariana poked Jabal a little when he tried to speak up after waiting for Jasmine's response and not getting one.
  • "That's enough" she whispered to him and he smiled.
  • "You don't want me to tease her. Do you?" he asked and she ignored him.
  • There was silence for a while with everyone focused on their food until Ella walked.
  • "Don't tell me you all are still here?" she said, folding her hands. "Should you not be on your way to school now?"
  • "Mom, we still have about an hour more to go" Ariana answered.
  • "Do you know what the time says?"
  • Jasmine stared at the wall clock and gasped. "Oh my. We really, need to get going" she said, standing up.
