Chapter 2 Came Looking For Me

  • Georgia tensed up and looked up at the man. She hoped in her heart that he wasn't playing any trick. “Finn… I… I'm sorry about everything that happened,” she said.
  • “Mmh,” Finn replied. He was still looking into her eyes. “I know you are sorry.“
  • Tears immediately welled in Georgia's heart. “You know?“ She asked, her voice slightly trembling. “Finn, I really didn't do it. I would never harm them. It was your...“
  • Finn immediately pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly. “I know that too,” he said. “You have suffered a lot.“
  • Georgia's body began shaking. She cried. She didn't know what else she was supposed to say. “I have been waiting for you to say that for so long,” she said.
  • He was the only person she wanted to prove herself to. She wanted him to believe her.
  • “It is all my fault, Jojo. I was not strong enough to stand up for you. I failed to protect you,” he whispered, holding her tightly. Only he knew how long he had hoped for that hug.
  • Georgia allowed him to hug her as she cried. “I'm just glad that you came looking for me. I'm glad that you trust me,” she said. “Finn, I still want to be your family. I'm all alone without you.“
  • Finn wiped away her tears. “Stop crying,” he said. “I'm here now. I won't let anyone hurt you again.“
  • After she calmed down and stopped crying, she looked up at Finn. “Um, it's late. Should I go back to my room?“ She asked. If she stayed out longer, she would be locked out.
  • Finn looked hesitant. “Don't you want to stay here with me?“ He asked jokefully.
  • Georgia chuckled with a blush. “Umm... we are not kids anymore. There's only one bed,” she said with a shrug. They couldn't share a bed any longer, right?
  • Finn sighed. “Mmh, we are not kids anymore. But you'll always be that little girl to me, you know,” he said it meaningfully.
  • But he could only change the topic when he realized that she didn't understand his hidden message. 'She still thinks of me as just her older brother.'
  • “So, is anyone bullying you lately? Seems like I just got back to my job of fighting for you,” he said, a smile at the corner of his lips. He just failed to notice that it was the first time he had smiled for the last five years.
  • Georgia smiled back sweetly. “Not really,” she said. “I'm a bit fierce now. I'm not easy to bully.“
  • “Mmh,” Finn nodded. “I guess I should walk you back to your hostel and check it out myself.“
  • Georgia tried to stop him. “Um, I don't think there is need for that. I…”
  • But Finn held her hand. “Let's go! You are not going to say no to me today,” she said. If he couldn't make her stay the night, then he could at least send her back to the dormitory.
  • Georgia sighed. “Okay! And you have to buy me another cup of coffee and ice cream. It was your fault that I dropped them.“
  • Finn chuckled. “Oh, I see that someone hasn't changed. You like to extort money from me.“
  • He looked at her walking beside him and felt a certain form of satisfaction. “You shouldn't hold back. I made a lot of money to spend on you.“
  • Once at the hostel gate, Finn turned the girl around so that she was facing him. “I'll pick you up tomorrow once you are done with your classes, okay?“
  • Even though Georgia didn't know what she was being picked up for, she still nodded her head. “Mmh, okay,” she said. All she ever wanted was to be close to this one person who cared about. She wouldn't let any chance slide.
  • “Give me your phone,” Finn said, taking her phone and saving his number. “If anything happens before tomorrow, call me right away.“
  • Georgia almost laughed out loud. “Nothing will happen,” she said. Anyway, she had missed this kind of affection a lot.
  • Finn hugged her again and kissed her forehead, and Georgia felt a little embarrassed. She smiled and ran off.
  • Finn stood in place for a while before shrugging and walking back. It would be great if he took things very slowly.
  • His assistant appeared beside him with a weird smile. “So, did the two of you?”
  • Finn scoffed. “Yeah, we spent some time together,” he said, pretending that he didn't understand what Bradley was insinuating.
  • Bradley chuckled. “You look happy today, boss. Did something else happen? Like… um… you know.“
  • Finn stopped and looked at him, but there was still a blush on his face. “She is still so young,” he said.
  • Bradley rubbed his hands together. “Twenty-two years old isn't so young. You have been waiting all these years. You better act faster or someone else will,” he said.
  • He only wanted his boss and best friend to be happy. And it was obvious that only that girl could ever keep him happy.
  • Finn seemed to be thinking about it, but he didn't say anything. “Did the old man find out that we are here?“
  • Bradley immediately shook his head. “Nope. He thinks we are in Country D. I had your cards used there,” he explained. He paused a bit before looking at Finn again. “By the way, Finn, are you really planning to take her back with you?“
  • Finn was silent for a second before nodding. “Mmh,” he said. In his heart, she was the only family he had left. Now that he was powerful enough, he was going to take her back home and protect her.
  • Bradley sighed worriedly. “Won't the old man make things difficult for her? She has already suffered enough,” he said. He also pitied the girl a lot.
  • Finn rubbed his nose bridge. “Did you transfer the shares as I told you?“
  • “Yeah,” Bradley nodded. “Everything is in place.“
  • “We'll be able to handle the old man then. I won't let him lay a finger on her ever again,” he said, a determined look on his face.
