Chapter 3
- The scar-faced leader looked Chloe up and down, grinning maliciously. "Chloe? Finally caught you."
- Chloe paled and took two steps back. "What do you want? I don't know you!"
- "Don't know?" The scar-faced man pulled out an IOU from his pocket and threw it at her face. "Last month at the casino, you lied to us about doubling our money, but ended up losing thirty thousand. You wrote an IOU and ran away. Now you want to deny it?"
- Only then did Chloe remember the gang of thugs she had fooled. She forced herself to stay calm, raising her chin. "Just thirty thousand? I'll go home now and get it for you. I'm the heiress of the Fay family. I have plenty of money."
- "The heiress of the Fay family? What a big shot. Can anyone just claim to be from the Fay family?" The scar-faced man sneered, grabbing her chin. "But how come I didn't notice how pretty you are before? For the sake of your pretty face, I've changed my mind."
- He then leered at her short skirt, saying, "We don't want money anymore."
- The other two thugs immediately surrounded her, blocking her way out.
- Chloe instantly panicked and tried to run, but she was grabbed by the hair and forcefully pulled back by the scar-faced man.
- She tried to scream, but her mouth was covered by a rough hand, rendering her cries to be suppressed into muffled sounds of struggle.
- "Don't move, or you'll regret it!" The scar-faced man's voice was menacing as he dragged her deeper into the alley.
- The alley was filled with abandoned cardboard boxes, and it was also so dark and damp that not even a ray of sunlight could penetrate.
- Chloe struggled desperately, her nails digging into the man's arm, but she was kicked hard in the knee by another thug, leaving her feeling weak and in utter pain. The hand covering her mouth then tightened, suffocating her, and like a tide, fear quickly washed over her. She watched as the light at the end of the alley slowly disappeared, her tears of despair streaming down her face.
- "No matter who you are, once you're here, you have to listen to us." The scar-faced man's voice echoed in her ears as he roughly tore at her skirt.
- Chloe's struggles grew weaker and weaker as her consciousness faded.
- At that moment, as the greedy eyes of the thugs were fixed on her, she felt like she was back in the dark of the rural shed, with Cora raising a belt.
- Was she really destined to be bullied regardless of whether she was the heiress of the Fay family or not?
- At the end of the alley came the sporadic sound of footsteps. The scar-faced man turned alertly, only to see an old man picking up trash. He relaxed and growled to his accomplice, "Hurry up! Don't waste time."
- The old man got scared, and he quickly turned and ran away, his footsteps soon disappearing at the end of the alley.
- Chloe closed her eyes, tears of humiliation soaking her hand covering her mouth. She felt all her strength leave her body.
- She bit down on her hand, tasting a faint metallic flavor, but it brought her no mercy.
- After what felt like an eternity, the thugs finally stopped, cursing as they straightened their clothes. "Consider yourself lucky. Don't ever dare to deceive us again."
- They pulled up their pants and left, leaving Chloe all sprawled on the cold ground.
- Her skirt was torn to shreds. Her body was covered in stains and bruises, and bloodstains still lingered at the corner of her mouth.
- The wind from the alley blew in, making her shiver from the cold.
- Slowly, she propped herself up as her suppressed and desperate cries rang in the silent air that carried the musty smell of the alley.
- After crying for who knows how long, she suddenly remembered something, her eyes turning fierce.
- "Elena, it's all because of you. If you hadn't taken up eighteen years of my life, I wouldn't have ended up like this."
- She clenched the oily ground, her cries turning into a roar.
- Her despair turned into ferocity in an instant. At that moment, she caught sight of a rusty iron rod next to the garbage can at the alley entrance. She staggered towards it, picked it up, and chased after the thugs.
- With a gaze darkened with anger, Chloe rushed forward, swung the iron rod so powerfully that it audibly sliced the air, and struck one of the thugs on the head.
- With a loud thud, the scar-faced man fell to the ground.
- The other two thugs were terrified. They ran off, shouting, "She's crazy!"
- Still consumed by her fury, she pounced on them, the iron rod striking their heads one by one, causing blood to splatter on her skirt. "Die, die, die, ahhh!!"
- It wasn't until there was complete silence on the ground, accompanied by red flesh and white bones mixed with bloodstains, that she finally stopped.
- As she dropped the iron rod, a twisted smile appeared on her blood-smeared face, then she turned to run back to the Fay family mansion.
