Chapter 2
- Chloe handed the paternity test to Victoria. "Mrs. Fay, this is the DNA test between Arthur and me, and also with you."
- After reading it, Victoria felt like she was struck by lightning, her head buzzing.
- After a while, she threw the DNA test results at Arthur and Cora's faces. "Take a look yourselves."
- Elena, who was still standing in the sidelines, felt that her family might be falling apart. She instinctively wanted to approach Victoria. "Mom."
- "Don't touch me."
- Victoria stepped back, feeling a bit shaky. Then, she said with a hoarse voice, "I don't even know who your mother is now."
- Trembling, Arthur picked up the document, and the words "confirmed biological relationship" instantly pierced his gaze.
- He looked up at Elena, and the warmth in his eyes was instantly replaced by coldness.
- Liam stood by, watching Elena's pale face, and clenched his fists. His Adam's apple moved, but no sound came out of his mouth.
- Elena could only stand awkwardly on the side, feeling at a loss.
- Just a second ago, they called her a little princess, wanting to celebrate her piano award. How did it turn out like this now?
- Chloe looked at their reactions, and a hint of satisfaction flashed in her eyes. She then covered her face and started weeping, her cries sounding sharp. "I know I'm not worthy of the Fay family, but I just don't want everyone to be deceived. I can't bear to think about anything else... Now that everyone knows, I'll leave."
- "Wait!" Victoria rushed up to hug her. "You are my child, so where else can you go? I am your mother, and I won't allow you to leave again."
- Victoria held Chloe's hand tightly, as if trying to embed it into her bones. Then, she said with an emphatic voice, as if trying to urgently compensate for the lost years. "My good daughter, you've suffered these years. I will tidy up your room for you, and from now on, you are the rightful eldest daughter of the Fay family."
- Chloe buried her face in Victoria's shoulder, a hint of a smile at the corner of her mouth, but when she spoke, her voice sounded choked. "Mom, I'm scared... I'm afraid Elena won't be happy."
- "It's okay; it's okay." Victoria immediately comforted her. "Elena is not that kind of person. From now on, both you and Elena are good daughters to me."
- A hint of reluctance flashed in Chloe's eyes, but she quickly gently pulled Elena over, and the three of them hugged each other. "Arthur, kick Cora out. Neither Chloe nor Elena will go with her anymore. She doesn't deserve to be a mother."
- As soon as Arthur agreed, Cora went crazy and lunged at Chloe. "You ungrateful brat! I raised you for eighteen years! You think you have the right to take things from Elena?"
- "Raised me?" Chloe pushed Cora away, causing her to stumble and hit the coffee table, which then left a red mark on her forehead. "Is that what you call raising me? You gave all my tuition to some random guy outside, made me drink dirty water, and forced me to sleep in the shed! But now you dare to say you raised me?"
- Those words hit Arthur where it hurt, and he kicked Cora. "Shut up! Get out of here!"
- Cora was kicked out, and Victoria and Chloe were caught in a warm moment. Arthur remained standing on the side, seemingly nervous after his declaration. Meanwhile, Elena simply stood there like a puppet.
- Liam eventually left without saying a word.
- For the next three days, Elena became almost invisible in the house.
- At the breakfast table, Victoria pushed scrambled eggs and milk in front of Chloe. In her own wardrobe, her clothes were haphazardly piled in the corner, replaced by designer dresses that Victoria bought overnight. Even her piano, which she had used for ten years, was covered in cloth by the maid on the excuse of being too noisy.
- The back and forth of life during this time had already made Chloe forget everything she had been through.
- That evening, Chloe went out in a new skirt, twirling in front of the mirror before leaving. She coquettishly said to Victoria, "Mom, I'm going to buy some snacks. I'll be back soon."
- Victoria smiled and handed her a stack of cash. "Buy more. If it's not enough, just call me."
- But then, as she walked through the old alley behind the Fay family mansion, three men with dyed yellow hair suddenly emerged from the corner, blocking her way.
