Chapter 2226 Climb Into His Bed
- After Bertram had his fill of kissing, he finally let Lacey go. She was breathless and smacked him. “What’s wrong with you? Don’t you know how dangerous that was?” If it were just the two of them, fine. But there were two little ones in the car, and one of them was Ms. Estelle Blenheim’s daughter. If anything happened, Kevin would come for her head. This guy was way too willful. Way too domineering. Bertram was thoroughly satisfied. The kissing felt great, so his mood lifted. He could take her swats and scolding without batting an eye. Then it hit him—the way she tried to fight the kiss, then melted into it… that rush of conquest lit him up. He loved it. She clearly liked him, but kept pretending she didn’t. He’d make her face what she really wanted, step by step. After Lacey punched him a couple of times, she glanced at the two little ones in the back. Today had really put them through the wringer. She didn’t want them going hungry any longer, so she huffed, turned the key, and pulled the car out. Just then, Bertram’s phone rang. He checked the screen, but didn’t pick up. They’d barely left the police station and the call came in—yeah, Neil must’ve heard. He silenced the ringtone, shoved the phone back in his pocket, and let it go. … At the Yowell residence, Neil dialed the president’s number, but no one answered. He was freaking out. Rainie sat with her mom, who was crying. “It’s my fault. I failed to raise Xoxo right. How did she cause such a huge mess?” Rainie soothed her. “Mom, don’t cry. With Dad’s position, he’ll smooth it over.” Neil ended the call and cursed under his breath. “Is that brat back yet? I’ll beat her half to death tonight.” She never paid attention at school, always stirring up trouble that he had to clean up. And now this—causing a scene at the police station. The girl had some nerve. Rainie got up and handed her dad a glass of water. “Dad, have a sip. Try calling again in a bit.” Given her father’s relationship with the president, she figured everything could be handled. No need to panic. Neil took the water and looked at his eldest. The longer he looked, the more he felt she was thoughtful and steady. No matter when, she stayed calm and knew how to comfort people. Thank God one of them was reliable. He took a sip and sighed. “Rainie, your old man might be in deep trouble this time. I need your help.” What he had in mind was sending his daughter over. If Bertram accepted her, then he had a shot. Rainie knew exactly what he meant. She and her sister had always known their “mission”—marriage was something they obeyed their parents on. Their father wanted to introduce them to the president so they could marry in. That would only benefit the Yowell family. And honestly, it’d be great for them, too. She nodded. “Set it up, Dad. I’ll do whatever you say.” Rainie had waited a long time for this. Before, they’d only met the president at the occasional event, which wasn’t enough for him to truly see her shine. She’d been training for years—enough to make any man lose his mind. She was sure of it. Men were all the same. Once they got a taste of her charm, they’d fall hard. Neil nodded. “Go get changed. Dress to kill.” I’ll get you into the presidential residence. Find a way to climb into his bed. As long as you do that, starting tomorrow, this nation will be ours to command. Everyone trying to bring us down will regret it. As for what happened tonight, he was certain someone set him up. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have blown up like this, with the president publicly calling him out by name.
