Chapter 2203 So Young, Already Lying Through His Teeth

  • At that, she cast a cool glance at Little Blockhead. He was in a gray hoodie today, no logo, no hint of a brand. To the store manager, it screamed flea-market knockoff. Little Blockhead grinned. “Michel?” The manager tipped her chin. “Yeah, master designer Michel.” Lacey told Little Blockhead, “Sweetheart, wait for me at the ice cream shop across the street. I’ll come over once I’m done.” She didn’t want her son seeing this mess. The hoodie on Little Blockhead was something Michel had sewn for her with his own hands. In the kid’s eyes, Michel was just an old guy who made clothes. A year ago, when they vacationed at Majestic Bay Villas, Michel was in the villa next door. Little Blockhead made friends with him. That’s why, for years, the boy’s clothes had all been this brand. What happened today made Lacey decide she’d stop wearing the old man’s designs from now on. Little Blockhead nodded. “Okay!” Then he told the salesgirl, “Miss, my hoodie was made by Old Michel too.” And off he went, light as air, because ice cream was his favorite thing in the world. Mom usually wouldn’t let him have it, and now she did. He was over the moon. The manager shook her head. “Miss, your kid’s already lying at that age. That’s a terrible habit.” They were Michel’s staff, sure, but none of them had ever met Michel himself, let alone that little brat. Michel was a world-famous master. His clothes and accessories were adored, his label a global name. Anyone could claim they’d met him. Lacey didn’t bother being polite anymore. “Get your store manager out here.” The manager sighed. “Miss, you’re pretty, and we’re both women. I’m giving you a friendly warning—don’t make a scene. Even if the manager comes, it won’t help. Young Master Hu’s family is no joke. Ms. Cui is the daughter of a general from Muprary. People like that? None of us can afford to offend them.” With that, she turned and headed for the lounge, all cringing servility. Hu Hu waddled out of the dressing room just then, the salesgirl helping him into the trench coat from earlier. He was so overweight that the coat looked tight and awful on him, like he could barely lift his arms. The manager, however, beamed. “Young Master Hu looks fantastic in it. This is Michel’s handiwork—one of a kind in the world.” Zeng Rong lit up, appraising her son with earnest pride. “I think it looks great too.” In her eyes, her son was the best, unique and handsome. Only something truly one-of-a-kind deserved him. Ailee Cui arched a brow. “Aunt, you should really get Cousin to slim down. He can barely fit into anything here.” A luxury label turned cheap the second it hit Hu Hu’s frame. Lacey snapped a photo and sent it to Michel. Old man Michel, did you make this yourself? Looks like your skills slipped! Photo. She sent it, curled her lips in a cold half-smile, and headed out. The staff watched her leave and whispered. “She’s being sensible, walking away. If the manager showed up, she’d be in deep trouble.” As they spoke, the manager hurried in. The man was in his forties, still in great shape—clearly disciplined and probably hits the gym often. The salesgirls rushed over. “Manager.” He spoke in a hard voice. “What are you doing? Michel just called. He said the coat he made is off the market. Tell the customer, and I’m taking it right now.” The store manager blinked in confusion. “Why? Young Master Hu loves it.”
