- Estelle nearly burst out laughing—they’d totally missed the groom’s pickup. They should’ve been on the road by now. The plan was to leave her parents’ place at noon and arrive before one. It was already twelve forty-something, and they had just woken up. They’d gloriously blown right past the pickup window.
- Estelle swatted him. “This is all on you. I told you we couldn’t be together last night! You wouldn’t listen and kept me up till so late.” Her cheeks flared pink. She slid off the bed, scooping up clothes as she went and dressing in a rush. Once she was done, she dashed into the bathroom for a quick wash, then headed out.
