Chapter 20 Plumbing deeper(2)

  • Apparently, if we were to get married, I had to sign a prenuptial agreement. Otherwise, the wedding would not go ahead, I would get nothing. NADA, not a single penny. Imagine my plight, the thought of being stuck with Gregory for a year or two was anyway bad enough but forever!!? This was plain terrifying. I freaked out and told mom that especially now, I couldn't go through with it. Again instead of understanding my situation, she went ballistic, threatening me that if I didn't marry him she'd kill herself. I was 18 and I didn't want to lose my mom so sigh, I remained quiet.
  • Anyway, the day of the wedding arrived and after spending the morning sorting out all the preparations, ready to take the plunge, Giovanni, his parents and my parents had a private meeting where I signed the contract saying that if we ever got divorced, for philandering reasons. I would have to give up everything. Home. Money. Everything. My mother had a suitable negotiating arrangement as always! I signed the prenup and married Gregory on the condition that they pay off my mom's debts and help her out financially through a monthly payment plan. You see, Trevor was very clever, he only used my mom, never helped her out financially. It even made me feel, all of this was to cushion my mom's life and not mine.
  • With that signature, I became his forever. My mother was the only one in the room who took the time to talk to me about it. Telling me I had no options anyway, I didn't study, I couldn't do anything. The only thing I could have done would have been to try to seduce a lawyer in the future and ask him to help me dissolve this contract.
