- My father turned and headed back out of the forest. I followed, a little dazed. I’d been so happy when he finally accepted her into the pack. Honestly, I’d been over the moon. He didn’t have to do it—he could’ve said that humans had no place among wolves, even if two pack members had already chosen her.
