Chapter 2
- *Samantha's POV*
- I laid on the floor weakly, I was still shivering slightly. Silver for someone who has never received silver resistance training could be hard.
- "Are you okay now?" Granny asked in a whisper and I nodded.
- We were not allowed to talk when we were not asked to.
- "Do you think we can ever survive this Cara?" I asked my wolf side.
- " As long as we have the determination and as long as you keep a leash on your tongue," she replied and I chuckled softly.
- " Even that still won't work, where is Derek who attempted to run away last month? He got killed right in front of us," I said to her.
- " Derek has always been clumsy," Cara replied.
- " What do you think if we find our mate?" Cara suddenly brought up the question and I felt my heart skip a few beats.
- "Our mate? How could you even think of him?" I asked, pressing my lips into a thin line.
- "What if he can help us out from this?" She asked.
- " Cara, to find a mate, we have to get out of here, now tell me, how the heck are we supposed to get out of this place?"
- " That's true but just some food for thoughts, how do you think our mate will look like? Is he a huge wolf with white fur-like us? Or some other colours? What if he is a beta?!" Cara shrieked excitedly
- " Cara! That's impossible, you are forgetting that I am a slave, how in the world could I ever get a beta? And if I am that lucky, you think he will accept a slave?" I sighed and heard Cara groan.
- I know she didn't feel good because I had soured her expectations of our mate but then that was the truth.
- We were never going to get out of this godforsaken place and we are not going to find our mate.
- "Granny" I created a private mind link.
- "Samantha"
- "What happens if I never get a mate?" I asked and heard her sigh.
- " You are going to get one, the moon goddess will bring your mate your way" she replied and I sighed.
- " Okay granny" I replied, ending the mind link.
- I did not need someone to tell me fairy tales like it was possible to meet my mate, I only wanted to know the reality.
- "What if your so-called fairy tale comes true?" Cara chirped.
- " Cara, I know how much you want a mate and I do want one too but then..."
- " What if it comes true?" She asked again.
- " Then I will believe in every other fairytale" I replied.
- " Other fairy tales like what?"
- "Like everyone can be free someday."

- * Kayden's POV*
- I just finished having sex with one of the bitches I got the previous night. I got up and headed into my bathroom.
- I cleaned up and took a short bath. I wrapped the towel around my waist and walked back into the room only to meet the girl still there.
- I ignored her presence and walked to my wardrobe to grab a shirt.
- " Sir Kayden," she called, her voice dripping with seduction.
- "How about one more time?" She asked and I darted my eyes towards her.
- She blinked severally, her confidence crumbling under my intent, cold gaze.
- "Get out." I picked a shirt and slipped it on.
- " But... I was thinking..."
- "Get the hell out!" I thundered and she scampered out, picking her clothes.
- Silly humans!
- "Come in," I called out and two maids rushed in.
- "Alpha Kayden" they bowed but I paid little attention to them.
- They changed the bedspread and picked up the dirty one. They cleaned up a few things and left the room.
- I dressed up fully and took a look at myself in the mirror, this was who I had grown to become.
- I never had sex with the same lady twice, I was no longer that soft-hearted Alpha.
- No! Being soft-hearted had no advantage. Maybe I was never really soft-hearted, maybe this side of me was just hiding all this while.
- "Kayden." I heard a feminine voice.
- Only one female in the whole world could call me by my name that way, mum.
- The door opened and she walked in with a huge smile on her face.
- "Good morning mum." I kissed her right cheek.
- " You're looking good this morning." mum complimented and I gave her a small faux smile.
- I did not want to go through her lecturing on how long it had been since I last smiled.
- "Did you see the girl I asked to come to see you yesterday? Do you like her?" She asked and I turned to her, paying full attention to her.
- "Mum, I do not need any girl, you do not need to send me any girl either because I am not interested in anyone"
- " Is this all because of her?" Mum asked, her brows furrowing.
- My brows arched and my jaws clenched. Mum was one of the few people who can talk about her.
- I ignored the question and adjusted my tie.
- "Answer me Kayden" she demanded, getting in the way between me and the mirror.
- "Mum" I called.
- "Son"
- "Is all this still about her? Can you just learn to move on?"
- I could feel my wolf side growling inside of me, I was burning inside, I hated this question, I hated it when anyone talked about her.
- "Can you just reply to me?!"
- "Mum, let's not talk about this, okay?" I asked.
- " Oh yeah, we are going to be talking about it, you've got to get a Luna"
- " I don't need one, I can rule on my own" I replied and mum gave a scoff with an eyes roll.
- I grabbed my briefcase and kissed her cheek again.
- "I'll be leaving now, duty call,s," I said to her and headed towards the door.
- "You're leaving?"
- "I've got to go mum"
- " What if you find her? I mean your mate" she asked and my grip on the doorknob tightened.
- I could feel Jay growl lowly but it wasn't of anger, it was of gentleness, he wanted the mate, I know but then I do not want the mate.
- "I will reject her," I replied.
