Chapter 8 Can't Sign it

  • "Even if you tore up this paper, I will still find a way to make you sign another one." Alfred's eyes were so stern that they made Lauren take two steps back.
  • Did he really never care about her? Just because she was unwilling to sign the divorce agreement, should he glare at her with such a look?
  • She was not afraid of him, just feeling heartbroken and devastated.
  • "I will repeat it again. I will not sign."
  • Lauren looked at him stubbornly. Her eyes were so determined as if she was defending her dignity.
  • However, what she did not expect was that soon the second document was brought by Alfred's assistant. Moreover, it was not just a copy, but a whole pack of divorce papers.
  • She smiled bitterly. Her heart hurt so much that she could barely breathe.
  • Did this man really hate her so much that he couldn't wait to divorce her immediately? She thought to herself.
  • "Let's see if you can tear these off."
  • He furiously pulled Lauren's hand to his side. The bright red inkpad was placed in front of her, like a box of blood.
  • "No, I don't want it."
  • "It's not up to you."
  • Alfred sneered and pressed her slender fingers on the inkpad. She wanted to withdraw her finger, but she couldn't beat his strong strength.
  • Her fingers were sore because of him. And the severe pain made her sober.
  • There was a voice in her heart yelling, "You can't sign it."
  • Lauren suddenly exhausted all her strength to push away the ink pad beside her. Her resistance surprised Alfred for a moment.
  • He was shocked by how she resisted, but then a touch of sarcasm appeared on his face. This woman was really so cunning. How could he be soft-hearted and be deceived by her hypocritical face?
  • However, at the moment when Alfred was lost in thought, Lauren ran away in front of him.
  • Alfred chased her out immediately.
  • Outside the Civil Affairs Bureau was a wide road with a huge traffic volume. Lauren just wanted to escape but didn't realize that she had run through the red light.
  • The passing drivers kept honking and the sound of horns and the sudden braking of vehicles were heard everywhere. Lauren realized that she was in the middle of the road.
  • "Are you blind? Don't you see that it is the green light now? Do you want to die?"
  • The passing driver cursed, looking rather gloomy.
  • "Sorry. I'm sorry."
  • Lauren hurriedly lowered her head to apologize, but when she looked back, she saw Alfred chasing her.
  • "That's enough. Come back and sign the paper!"
  • As he saw her running to the middle of the road, he somehow became nervous. Maybe it was just because she angered him by trying to escape.
  • Alfred convinced himself.
  • "I won't go with you."
  • Lauren gritted her teeth, determined not to go back. This man was so cruel, never willing to give her a way out.
  • "Look out!"
  • Alfred suddenly shouted behind her.
  • Before Lauren could look to the side, he saw a car rushing from the intersection on the left. Then, she saw the car hit her body like running a 100-meter sprint.
  • The severe pain struck her. She was so painful that her soul seemed to leave her body, seeing her body was sent flying by the fast-approaching vehicle.
  • Alfred felt that his heart skipped a beat. He rushed over at once regardless of the heavy traffic. The cars passing by almost knocked him to the ground.
  • The ambulance came soon. He followed the doctor into the car and saw Lauren lying with her eyes closed. He suddenly went soft for a moment.
  • How could Lauren, who was so hypocritical and cunning, do something equivalent to suicide?
  • "Sir, are you okay? Fortunately, your wife didn't get a deadly injury, so don't worry."
  • The doctor saw that Alfred's face was solemn. He looked so terribly gloomy. Therefore, he couldn't help but comforted him.
  • "She is not my wife."
  • Alfred retorted without reason.
  • The medical staff immediately smiled awkwardly, and quickly put all their energy into saving Lauren.
  • "At least she won't be in the future."
  • He didn't know why he felt so uneasy after saying that, so he added. However, no one heard the words he said next.
  • After being knocked out, Lauren fell on the lawn of the median strip. With the soft lawn, she was not injured too seriously.
  • She woke up soon after the operation.
  • She saw that she was in the hospital with a drip hanging on the side.
  • "You really put on a good show."
  • Alfred's cold voice was heard. He felt a bit relieved when he saw Lauren wake up. Soon the dislike for Lauren surged again.
  • "Do you think I was pretending?"
  • Lauren smiled bitterly. It turned out that when her heart hurt so much, she couldn't feel anything else.
  • After she was extremely disappointed with a person, she would not feel disappointed again.
  • She struggled to get up, but her wound was pulled. She moaned in pain, but she didn't show any sign of weakness.
  • "Alfred, I was wrong."
  • "A woman like you will actually realize you are wrong?"
  • He was doubtful. He felt that the aura around her had changed. He really wanted to seize something, but he failed.
  • "I was too willful before, so let's go to the Civil Affairs Bureau and get the divorce now."
  • Her body was weaker than she had figured. As soon as she got up from the bed, she collapsed to the ground. The drip bottle fell to the ground and broke into pieces. The anti-inflammatory agents spilled all over the ground.
  • Alfred's face looked terrible. He shouted, "You just don't want to get divorced. Why do you do so many things? You want me to take you to the Civil Affairs Bureau now and then tell the reporters that I abused my sick wife, don't you? I won't fall for your trap."
  • He then stormed out of the ward angrily.
