Chapter 2 So Rude

  • Looking at the examination report in her hand, Lauren was completely at a loss. She was pregnant.
  • With a trace of melancholy, Lauren couldn't help feeling her belly. A little life was growing inside. Alfred didn't love her. Would he like this child?
  • Thinking of the doctor's advice, she walked into a restaurant on the way home. A waiter walked to her and handed over the menu.
  • "May I take your order, Miss?"
  • Lauren turned it over and asked with a questioning look, "Excuse me, is there any Black-bone chicken soup?"
  • The waiter glanced up and down at Lauren. "Miss, if you want to nourish your body, you can try our bird's nest. We don't have black-bone chicken soup."
  • Because Lauren got out in a hurry, she didn't bring much cash. Then she asked quietly, "How much is the bird's nest?"
  • "Miss, you are really lucky today. There is a new rare bird's nest in our restaurant, which does not contain any impurities. It only costs 680 dollars per gram."
  • Lauren was completely stunned. Not to mention that she didn't bring money. Even if she brought the money, she wouldn't be so extravagant to spend thousands on a meal, not to mention that she didn't bring much.
  • Seeing the waiter still waiting for a reply, Lauren got up and said, "Sorry, I'm not ordering."
  • Just as she was about to leave, a familiar figure appeared at the door. Carrie was holding Alfred's arm affectionately, opening the door for him with a sweet smile.
  • Her sweet smile froze instantly when she saw Lauren.
  • "Lauren, what a coincidence, are you eating here too?"
  • The report seemed burning in her hand. Lauren wanted to make it transparent at this moment. The waiter on the side acted like he had found a savior for her.
  • "Is this your friend? You can borrow money from your friend to pay the bill." The moment the waiter saw Alfred, he knew that he was a rich man, so he looked at him with admiration.
  • After listening to it, Carrie charmingly opened her delicate pink leather bag, "Lauren, it's okay, I will lend it to you."
  • There was a trace of resentment flashing in Lauren's heart. She couldn't stay with such a woman who loved pretending. Walking away would always be the best choice. She turned and walked towards the door.
  • Carrie pouted aggrievedly as if being bullied, "Lauren ignored me..."
  • Her misty eyes aroused Alfred's anger.
  • "Stop!"
  • The waiter was so flustered that he dropped the menu in his hand, and even Carrie who was being coquettish stopped.
  • Lauren also stopped. She looked at the big hand grabbing her wrist in surprise. Did Carrie's emotions really have such a big influence? But today she really didn't want to wrong herself too much.
  • Taking a look at Carrie's misty eyes, Lauren felt nauseous. Therefore, she retched a few times, which accidentally soiled Alfred's clothes.
  • "Bitch!"
  • Alfred pushed Lauren away in disgust, letting her hit the table behind. There was a sound of heavy objects colliding in the restaurant.
  • "Lauren, are you okay?" Carrie asked Lauren anxiously, wanting to walk over to help her.
  • "Leave her alone. Be careful of things that might hurt you." Alfred grabbed Carrie's waist in time and wanted to kiss her on the face.
  • Lauren stared at everything coldly. She never liked seeing a live sex drama, let alone her husband being the protagonist.
  • The door was abruptly opened. Lauren tried to act aggressively and stepped out as if she were completely unharmed.
  • It didn't feel good to be ignored.
  • Alfred ignored Carrie pulling him, withdrew his arm fiercely, and walked towards the woman that irritated him.
  • "Ungrateful woman."
  • After he said that coldly, Lauren lost her freedom completely. With Alfred grasping her, she was thrown into the car.
  • When she regained her freedom again, she was already sitting on the sofa in the living room with bruises on her wrist.
  • "Carrie and I have already engaged. I don't think you are willing to live with this kind of marriage. This is a divorce agreement, sign it, and I will give you a sum of money."
  • With that, Alfred took out the pen prepared in advance and threw it in front of Lauren with the divorce agreement.
  • "What if I'm pregnant with your child? Are you still going to divorce me?" Lauren's voice was trembling with every word. This was the first time she had spoken to him in a similarly threatening tone.
  • Alfred's face darkened quickly. He stepped forward and grabbed Lauren's neck, anger spreading over his fingertips.
  • "How dare you threaten me with a child? Do you want to die?" Alfred deepened the strength in his hand and didn't let go until Lauren's face turned red.
  • "I didn't lie to you, for the sake of the child, I hope you can think about it." Lauren took out the crumpled pregnancy test report, letting it slide down the coffee table to the ground.
  • When her eyes were fixed on the red word "positive", Lauren couldn't help but let tears mist her eyes. It was supposed to be a piece of happy news, but she was very worried.
  • It was useless to say anything else. She would no longer humiliate herself. She was embarrassed enough today.
  • After returning to the bedroom for a long while, she found that the light in the living room was still on. She wondered what he thought when he saw it. Would he throw it directly into the trash can? Lauren closed the curtains and lay back on the bed and fell asleep soundly.
