Chapter 4 She Wants To Retaliate

  • The fetus-safeguarding pills on the table were thrown directly into the trash can by Alfred. After doing this, he took a sigh of relief.
  • "What a whore. You are so good at seducing men."
  • After hearing that, Lauren realized for the first time that she was so cheap. Alfred's tone was so firm as if he were stating a fact.
  • Alfred tightened the towel around his waist, leaning against the wall with his upper body naked and looking at Lauren playfully.
  • Did he suspect that she seduced his brother? Being convinced by his imagination also made her feel extremely awkward.
  • The subsequent ridicule caused the atmosphere in the bedroom to become cold. Lauren couldn't help holding the quilt tightly.
  • She thought naively that the child's arrival would make him change his mind, which now seemed to be a great irony.
  • What if Carrie had his baby? Would it be another story? He must be very happy, at least he would not question who the child's father was.
  • "What do you want exactly?" Alfred asked disdainfully.
  • Lauren raised his head slightly, not knowing what he meant.
  • "How much? Name your price."
  • Lauren couldn't believe what she just heard. "Do you think I married you for money?"
  • "Don't you?" After saying this, Alfred slowly sat on the rocking chair, shaking his straight long legs.
  • He got plenty of money. As long as she named a price, he would immediately write a check and tell her to get lost.
  • He had never been set up by anyone. This woman actually got his marriage through her scheme.
  • His disdainful look caused Lauren's dignity to begin to shatter. Alfred started at her as if he hated her so much.
  • "Do you think it's only you who can't get the one you love?" Lauren's tears fell quietly.
  • Although she and Alfred were husband and wife, it now appeared that this man never belonged to her.
  • She still remembered the first night of their wedding. Alfred was so drunk that he leaned over and kissed her, but called another woman's name.
  • From then on, the name of Carrie Green was engraved in her heart. She thought that this woman would be far away from Alfred.
  • It didn't take long before she realized that she had become the biggest fool in the world. Alfred and Carrie were more like newlyweds.
  • Lauren's rhetorical question made Alfred's face suddenly darkened and his eyes looked furious.
  • Alfred drew close to the delicate and fair face, pinched her chin without mercy, and did not let go even though his knuckles whitened.
  • What did it mean that he was not the only one that couldn't get the one he loves? It seemed that the innocence on Lauren's face was indeed fake. Her disguise almost fooled everyone in his family.
  • Noah Kent's face suddenly appeared in his mind. Alfred gradually looked away, and then released her chin in disgust.
  • He really didn't like the stubborn look in this woman's eyes. She did shameful things, but she was still so arrogant.
  • Lauren thought to herself, "You didn't want to recognize your own flesh and blood. Alfred, you are the cruelest father in the world."
  • Lauren fell silent because of disappointment.
  • Alfred restrained his anger. His tone became playful again, "You cheated in our marriage. I can divorce you at any time."
  • Did she cheat? Did he really realize that there was a certain behavior regarded as cheating?
  • "Alfred, when you were with another woman, do you remember that you were married?" Lauren suddenly plucked up the courage and pointed out Alfred's misdeeds.
  • Alfred frowned as if he had found the answer.
  • "So, are you retaliating?"
  • Seeing that Lauren was silent, he continued, "As long as you agree to divorce, I will give you whatever you want." Alfred thought with disdain. Maybe if he had written her a check with a huge amount of money before getting married, all of these wouldn't happen. It was a pity that he didn't see her intention until now.
  • "You are wrong, for the sake of my children, I will not divorce," Lauren said in a low voice that could only be heard by himself, but Alfred heard it clearly.
  • "Don't pretend to be lofty. You are just doing it for your own selfish desires. If you insist on doing it, we'll wait until the child is born. We must divorce."
  • As Lauren heard those cruel and decisive words, she felt she was so cold as if falling into the cold lake water. It turned out that even though she was pregnant, she still couldn't change Alfred's view of her.
  • The bedroom seemed to have become a cold execution field. Lauren got up and wanted to leave. She just stood by the bed and felt dizzy. Fortunately, she grabbed the stable railing. As she opened her eyes, she actually caught Alfred's outstretched hand.
  • The look of disdain on his face clearly meant that it was by instinct that he reached out and held her, because as soon as she stood firm, Alfred hurriedly withdrew his hand.
  • "Lauren, you are only pregnant for more than a month. Do you have to act like that?"
  • Lauren took a deep breath, feeling that she was about to be suffocated. The depressive atmosphere in the room made her urgently need to get some fresh air. She carefully held the door and walked outside, but her feet slipped. The water spilled on the ground made her lose balance and fell straight to the ground.
