• Stepping off the plane, I felt the caress of the afternoon breeze on my skin. The journey had been exhausting, my body sore from hours of being stuck in my seat. And yet, despite the fatigue, my mind was buzzing with a multitude of tasks that required my attention.
• Sapphire, my stepsister, insisted we head to the hotel and get some rest. But I shook my head. “Not yet,” I told her. “I have something important to attend to.”
• She frowned. “You’re exhausted, Liz. The ancestral house can wait.”
