- The weekend had come quicker than I expected. The days had blurred together, filled with work and the deliberate effort of staying in my own lane, like I’d promised. I hadn’t spoken to Raven since that night in the kitchen—the night I cooked for her, the night I’d kissed her cheek and walked away before I could do something stupid.
- I thought keeping my distance would make things easier. It didn’t. It just made me think about her more. And that was dangerous.
