• Ivan's eyes scanned Iris from head to toe, his expression cold and detached. "This is it?" he asked, voice hoarse and unimpressed. His tone held none of the warmth she remembered; instead, it seemed almost hostile, as if he couldn't stand the sight of her.
• Iris had already come to terms with his change in attitude, but it still hurt. Once, Ivan would have showered her with praise, calling her a goddess no matter what she wore, even if it was rags.
