Chapter 57 Madam Secretary

Autumn barely made it in time, her chest rising and falling rapidly as she gasped for breath at the entrance of the boardroom. She composed herself quickly, feeling the weight of every gaze upon her. Straightening her posture, she forced a confident smile onto her face and walked over to Derek, setting the steaming cup of coffee down in front of him with care before taking the seat beside him.
As she settled in, the conversations in the room resumed, and she could feel the eyes of the room shifting back to their original focus. However, she couldn’t ignore the whispers that floated through the air, each one louder than the next in her ears.
