Chapter 5
- The night wind poured in through the car window, tossing my messy long hair around and dispersing the chaos that had been trapped by drugs for so long.
- Freedom, this is the taste of freedom. I felt this truth, tears uncontrollably streaming down my face.
- In the rearview mirror, a glaring car light was closing in on me.
- It was Kian, that familiar Maybach like a wild beast, crazily chasing after me.
- I slammed the gas pedal to the floor, the car careening wildly on the deserted highway at night.
- I couldn't let him catch me, absolutely not!
- I rummaged through the storage compartment and pulled out the old phone I had hidden, dialing the number I thought I would never contact again.
- The phone rang once and was answered.
- "Hello?" Charlette's voice came through, like a lifeline.
- "Charlette! Save me! Save me!" I cried out, my voice trembling uncontrollably, "Kian... he's a lunatic, he's chasing me!"
- "Don't panic, Lucy, listen to me," Charlette's voice was calm and strong, "Head to the east suburbs, keep driving, there's an abandoned dock over there. I've arranged a boat to wait for you, it's safe once you get on board."
- "The dock... okay, the dock!" I gripped the steering wheel tightly, turned the car around, and raced towards the direction Charlette had mentioned.
- The car lights behind me were getting closer and closer, Kian recklessly tailgating my car, several times my car almost collided with the guardrail. I gritted my teeth, with only the road leading to the dock in my sight.
- The smell of the sea grew stronger, the silhouette of the dock in the distance faintly visible in the night. I saw it, I saw a familiar figure standing at the end of the dock, it was Charlette! She was anxiously waving at me.
- Hope was right in front of me.
- Just as I was about to accelerate and rush over, the Maybach behind me roared, in a completely reckless and suicidal manner, ruthlessly rammed into me from the side!
- "Bang!"
- The huge impact sent me flying, my head hitting the car window hard. Everything spun, the ears filled with the piercing sound of metal scraping.
- My car lost control, spinning like a top towards the edge of the dock.
- In the end, the front of the car crashed through the decaying guardrail, half of the car hanging in the air. Below the wheels, there was the icy black waves of the sea churning.
- I was stuck in the driver's seat, unable to move.
- Not far away, the front of the Maybach had been smashed beyond recognition. Kian pushed open the car door and crawled out from inside. His forehead was scratched by broken glass, blood flowing down his handsome face, but he was smiling, a grin that was both sinister and satisfied.
- "Lucy," he walked towards me step by step, his voice hoarse, "I told you, you can't go anywhere."
- He opened his arms, as if embracing his victory.
- "Even if you die, you will die in my arms!"
- I watched as he approached, his face smeared with blood, his eyes filled with a crazed desire to devour me.
- No.
- I would rather plunge into the deep sea than fall into the hands of this devil again.
- With all my strength, I unbuckled the seatbelt and pushed open the deformed car door.
- In his disbelieving eyes, I leaped out and plunged into the icy cold sea.
- The seawater instantly engulfed me, the bone-chilling cold penetrating my limbs. My consciousness quickly blurred, my body uncontrollably sinking.
- Is this the end...
- Just when I thought everything was about to fade into darkness, a strong arm unceremoniously wrapped around my waist and pulled me up from the sinking abyss.
- The glaring searchlight shone down from above, too bright for me to open my eyes.
- I was dragged onto an extremely luxurious yacht, drenched and lying limp on the cold deck.
- A pair of shiny black handmade leather shoes stopped in front of me.
- I struggled to lift my head.
- A man looked down at me from a high vantage point. He was dressed in a meticulously tailored black haute couture suit, tall and imposing, exuding a far more sinister and terrifying aura than Kian.
