Chapter 3
- "Lucy, look who's here." Kian wrapped his arm around me, gesturing for me to look up.
- My stepsister, Genni, stood at the entrance, with a polite smile on her face.
- But when she saw the man holding me, her eyes immediately turned resentful and infatuated.
- Her infatuation was directed at none other than Kian, the man holding me.
- "Brother Kian," Genni deliberately changed her tone, "Lucy looks much better now."
- I ignored her, instead, I tiptoed and kissed Kian on the lips, "Honey, I don't want to see outsiders."
- Afterwards, as if suddenly realizing something, I covered my mouth innocently and looked at Genni, "No, my sister is not an outsider."
- Genni was taken aback, she didn't expect me to say that. The anger she wanted to vent was forced down when she saw Kian.
- Kian, who was pleased by me, couldn't be bothered with Genni. He pinched my cheek, "See, she's so clingy to me now."
- Genni's face paled for a moment, but quickly returned to a smile.
- I deliberately raised my hand, exposing the limited edition diamond bracelet on my wrist to Genni's sight. I remembered clearly, last month, Genni posted a picture of this bracelet on Instagram, captioned "My dream".
- Since she chose to stand on Kian's side, I would let her watch as I took everything away from her.
- "Honey, the bracelet you gave me is so beautiful. What do you think, Genni?" I asked her.
- Genni's gaze was fixed on the bracelet, then she forced out a smile, "Beautiful... Brother Kian is really good to sister."
- After sending Genni away, I made an excuse to take a shower and locked the bathroom door.
- Turning on the shower, with the sound of rushing water covering up any noise, I began to exercise secretly.
- Push-ups, squats, leg lifts... the movements I once did to maintain my figure had now become my only redemption. The soreness in my body and the trembling of my muscles made me feel alive, rather than just a walking corpse.
- I looked at my reflection in the foggy mirror, sweat and water droplets mixing together and sliding down my cheeks.
- Kian, Genni... what you took from me, I will take back one by one.
- This game is just getting started.
- The opportunity came faster than I had imagined.
- Kian recently took on a merger case, becoming more and more trusting of me. He didn't even bother to lock the door to his study anymore.
- He probably thought that even if his wife, who he had nursed back to health with his own hands, laid out his trade secrets in front of me, I wouldn't understand.
- That afternoon, he went to the company for an emergency meeting. I, as usual, wore his favorite white cotton dress, barefoot, and cleaned the villa spotless.
- While dusting the bookshelves in the study, my fingertips touched a cold metal casing in a corner of a drawer.
- It was the old phone he claimed to have scrapped and thrown away.
- It was the phone I had been using before marrying him.
- I opened a crack in the study's curtains, confirmed that the yard was empty, and quickly hid the phone in the pocket of my skirt. Back in the bedroom, I locked the door, hid in the deepest corner of the walk-in closet, and wrapped myself in layers of expensive dresses.
- Luckily, the phone still had a bit of battery left. With trembling hands, I turned it on, and when the screen lit up, I almost cried with joy.
- Without hesitation, I quickly found Genni's number and composed an anonymous text message.
- "Wanna know who Kian really loves? Check the secret compartment in his study."
