Chapter 1

  • "We were brothers... Why betray me?"
  • “Sorry, the last thing you should do is to offend Master Liam Charles.”
  • Assassin 79's consciousness faded into darkness as fragments of his past life flashed through his mind—Born as an abandoned orphan, he grew up to be a top assassin under the care of Charles family.
  • He has no name of his own, only codename Assassin 79.
  • In order to repay his gratitude, Assassin 79 risked his life for his family.
  • He had once stormed a fortress alone, cutting down hundreds to capture his target alive.
  • Yet on his final mission, the brother he trusted most shot him in the back. Because the family’s young master no longer needed him.
  • The world twisted violently, and when his vision cleared, he stood in an ethereal blue forest. Before him loomed a radiant woman with piercing eyes—Queen Lola of the Blue Elves.
  • "You stand in the realm of the Blues," her voice resonated like a chorus. "We, whom the gods forged to wield 50% of our minds—whom fools call 'Half-Gods'—have chosen you as our vessel."
  • She stepped closer, her breath icy against his skin. "Our kind was slaughtered through treachery. Now, our rage burns in you. Our knowledge. Our strength." Her fingers brushed his chest, where the bullet wound still throbbed. "You are no longer human. Geniuses will seem slow to you. Bullets, meaningless. You are healer, warrior, and sage—all at once."
  • Assassin 79 gasped awake, his fingers clawing at the cliff’s edge. Blood seeped from his gunshot wound—but stranger still, memories that weren’t his flooded his mind.
  • The original Lucas Charles: A 35-year-old laughingstock, married to Cassie Ryan, the jewel of City J. While her grandfather had supported their love match, the rest of the Ryan clan despised him. Weak. Useless.
  • And now, with the old man dead, they’d forced Cassie toward a political marriage with the Wilkins dynasty. When she refused… they’d sent Harold to kill Lucas and hurl him off this cliff.
  • "Pathetic," the assassin seethed, merging with Lucas' memories. "Such a woman—loyal, brilliant—wasted on a coward." He flexed his hands, feeling the Blue Elves' power crackle beneath his skin.
  • Cassie was in danger. The Ryans would be circling her like vultures.
  • He grinned.
  • Let them try.
  • ***
  • At the Ryan family house, the place was brightly light by different electric bulb and candle.
  • Tonight was actually the Eightieth birthday of Lady Ryan, she became the family patriarch after her husband Mr. Ryan’s death about five years ago, and it was also she who sent Harold to assassin Lucas
  • The Ryan family were not that great, but they still have some few friends around City J, hence the birthday still have some few friends and family, and even some came bearing gift.
  • Lady Ryan as well was beaming with smiles all over her, dressed in a floral satin gown.
  • She also wore a blue pendant on her neck, she had a blue colored hairpin which she use to hold her long hair.
  • “Harold, how was it?” Lady Ryan said to man who was behind him.
  • The man was actually about twenty seven years old, he was the same Harold who killed Lucas and pushed him off the cliff.
  • Harold smiled and come closer to Lady Ryan. “It was successful Grandma, that wastrel was gone forever never to return.”
  • Lady Ryan beam with more smile, now she can finally do as she wish, she can finally sold Cassie whom she detest so much.
  • “I implore everyone to cheer with me.”
  • “It is an honor.” Everybody in the hall all replied.
  • They all held their cups firmly and raised it up in the air, they all about cheers and drank the content.
  • Actually Lady Ryan had four children, two male and two female, and five grandchildren, Cassie been the first.
  • Each Son and Daughters sat down according to their position, each son-in-law and daughter-in-law also sat down by each Children, then each grandchildren from each children also sat down by their family, followed by the well-wishers, then friends and family from Lady Ryan old family.
  • The party was In a full swig, because more and more gift and present continued to pour in from every direction, and Harold was taken them all inside.
  • After Mrs. Ryan came to power, the status of Cathy's father Jonathan plummeted, and the situation of Cathy's family was also shaky. It seemed that in Mrs. Ryan's eyes, Cassie's only use was as a tool to exchange interests and friendship.
  • "By the way," Lady Ryan's voice cut through the chamber music, "we've decided to reclaim your company. It barely turns a profit, and we can't keep supporting that useless husband of yours." Her blue-veined fingers adjusted the pendant at her throat. "Consider this your opportunity to marry into the Wilkins family properly."
  • Cassie's porcelain skin flushed crimson. "That company is my birthright as the eldest granddaughter!"
  • "Birthright?" Lady Ryan's cane struck the marble floor. "The moment you shackled yourself to that worthless man, you forfeited your place in this family."
  • "Then at least acknowledge Lucas's fifteen percent stake! This is outright theft!" Cassie's voice broke on the last word.
  • Harold's laughter rang out like shattering glass. "Lucas? That spineless worm? If the Wilkins heir dragged you screaming to the altar, your precious husband wouldn't dare—"
  • The terrace doors burst open without ceremony.
  • Every head turned as Lucas Charles stepped inside, his breathing ragged. Moonlight glinted off the fresh bloodstain blossoming across his white shirt - a gunshot wound.
  • "Apologies for my tardiness," Lucas said, and his other hand rose to touch his wound almost absently. "I encountered... complications on the road."
  • Cassie was too shocked to utter even a single word.
  • Then Lucas did something unprecedented - he looked directly at Lady Ryan without cowering.
  • "My wife," he announced loudly, making sure everyone heard. "isn't marrying anyone!"
