Chapter 7 A Group Of Unattractive People

  • Heather halted immediately, a warm smile spreading across her face. “Kelsey, when did you arrive? You're becoming more and more beautiful. I'm certain you'll be the winner this time,” she said enthusiastically.
  • “Heather, you're making me blush with your words. I heard that the other models participating this time have international runway experience. Their talents are not to be underestimated.”
  • “True enough. There's also one named Myra Lindner. Even though she's new, her figure is exceptionally good, and her looks are indeed quite pleasing.”
  • Kelsey's face instantly turned pale when she heard that. “Myra Lindner? A model named Myra?”
  • For five years, Myra had vanished without a trace. Her father and Stephen seldom mentioned her, but it was far from implying they didn't miss her.
  • Over the course of five years, Kelsey couldn't even begin to quantify what she had given to become the most devoted and dutiful daughter to her father and to earn unwavering devotion from Stephen.
  • However, she didn't anticipate that Myra would actually return.
  • Jealousy would consume Kelsey in a frenzy whenever she thought of Myra's face.
  • Myra was the gem of the Lindner family, a dazzling young lady of high standing. Had it not been for my relentless efforts back then, how could I have possibly shaken her position? Now that she has returned, am I still destined to play second fiddle to her? With a sense of discontent, Kelsey pulled out her phone and flipped to a particular photo. “Heather, take a good look. Is this her?” she asked.
  • Heather nodded in agreement. “That's correct. What's the matter? Do you girls know each other?”
  • A flicker of distaste flashed in Kelsey's eyes. “Heather, I don't want this person to pass the first audition. She doesn't belong in this circle.”
  • Startled for a moment, Heather quickly understood what was happening and hummed in acknowledgment.
  • Myra was blessed with a face that could make anyone's heart skip a beat and a body to match, and she was indeed someone Heather wanted to invest time and effort in nurturing.
  • However, Kelsey was the daughter of the Lindner family, the future lady of the Strauss family. Heather did not dare to offend her.
  • At the cocktail party venue, a man dressed in a gray suit sat silently. His well-defined fingers loosened his tie as he turned to the stern-faced man across from him and said, “Marcus, I'm extremely grateful for your presence here. However, can we move forward? There are so many beautiful women walking the runway up there. We can't see clearly from here!”
  • After a while, the man said again, “Hey, I'm talking to you!” He then pointed toward the lounge on the second floor. “Look! A model just came out.”
  • Marcus barely lifted his eyelids, casting a glance at the man. “So, this is your idea of a surprise?” he asked nonchalantly.
  • Sebastian Gerhard laughed awkwardly. “If I hadn't put it that way, would I have been able to get you, a bigwig, to come over?”
  • If it wasn't for Angela's incessant reminders, Sebastian wouldn't have bothered with these matters at all.
  • After all, considering Marcus' lofty standards, helping him find a partner was nothing short of a monumental challenge.
  • Marcus had always disliked attending any sort of cocktail parties.
  • As for why he deigned to show up that day, it was probably because the appearance of that woman in the morning had left him feeling bothered and unsettled all day. He wanted to divert his attention.
  • Marcus looked up, his interest waning, casting a casual glance upstairs. “These women are quite ordinary.”
  • “Well, look around for a while more. If you see a girl you like, I'll definitely help you get her!”
  • Even though they were tucked away in a corner, his presence was still palpable to the women in the room, who found themselves glancing over in his direction.
  • A foreign beauty even blew him a kiss from afar.
  • After a while, Marcus said, “What a group of unattractive people...”
  • Sebastian wiped the sweat off his forehead. “All right, then. It seems like your heart is only set on Ms. Myra,” he responded. However, this woman seems to be missing. Does she even exist?
  • “Never mind, I think I'll go back to racing cars. Would you like to come with me?” Sebastian asked.
  • Just as Marcus was about to stand up, suddenly, a familiar face barged into his line of sight. The person emerged from the second floor, warmly greeting everyone around.
  • Instantly, Marcus' charming eyes narrowed slightly. That face, even if it turned to ashes, I would recognize it!
