Chapter 2 An Unexpected Marriage And Pregnancy

  • Her household registration document had already been sent to City Hall in advance, but the marriage fell through. She had to retrieve the document.
  • Before she even arrived at City Hall, Myra felt something was amiss with her body, and an increasing heat engulfed her. What's going on? Someone must've done something to me! Well, I already know who the culprit is.
  • She woke up early to freshen up and have breakfast. During breakfast, she had some juice. Opportunities for Kelsey to mess with her were abundant.
  • However, there was nothing she could do after the effects of the medicine had taken hold. If she went back to confront her, it would only lead to further embarrassment for herself.
  • No matter if it was her father or Stephen, both would believe that she had orchestrated the drugging herself, framing Kelsey, all to stage a deceptive act of self-injury.
  • That was how far they thought she would go.
  • By the time she reached City Hall, Myra was completely drained, her petite face flushed a deep shade of crimson.
  • After much difficulty, she managed to find Victor Owens, the Lindner family's butler, to retrieve her documents.
  • “Ms. Myra, please hold on a moment. This is Mr. Strauss' ID card.”
  • Myra's lips curled into a smile. “You should give it to him yourself.”
  • She was utterly despondent, and she found everything about that man repulsive.
  • She knew she had to leave promptly. The effects of the drug coursing through her veins were growing stronger, beads of sweat forming on her forehead. Judging by the looks of it, Kelsey was determined to rob her of her innocence that day.
  • Myra wasn't afraid, though. With her familial ties gone and love no longer present, everything else seemed to lose its importance.
  • However, she was the daughter of the Lindner family. Even if it came to giving away her virginity, she would only consider a man she deemed worthy.
  • Not far from Myra, in the most inconspicuous corner, sat a man. He was dressed in a gray suit, his features hidden in the shadows of the corner.
  • Myra was unsteadily making her way toward the door when someone unknowingly stepped on her dress from behind. Stumbling, she found herself falling toward a man.
  • After that, she stumbled into the man's arms, instinctively clinging tightly to his neck.
  • Marcus Gerhard sat with both hands resting on the armrests of the VIP seat. His perfectly sculpted profile and handsome brows hinted at a blend of arrogance and dominance that was hard to conceal. His gaze was fixed on Myra, who was nestled in his arms.
  • “Get up!” he commanded in a low voice.
  • Myra curled her lips into a smirk, her lips parting slightly. “Oh, please. Meanie, what's wrong with sitting for a bit?”
  • At that moment, the man's eyes were already aflame with intense passion.
  • But the moment the man appeared, Myra's originally dull and beautiful eyes suddenly shone with brilliance.
  • A man who had hurried in looked at Myra in astonishment and lowered his voice when he said, “Mr. Gerhard, she's not coming anymore.”
  • “In that case, don't ever come,” Marcus said in a calm tone, yet his entire presence radiated an intimidating aura.
  • Myra heard him, her lips pursed in a secret smile. It seems this man has also been stood up.
  • She then said delicately, “Are you also dumped by your fiancée? Well, that's perfect...”
  • Her voice was as soft as cotton, both sweet and crisp.
  • “Perfect? How so?” Marcus squinted his eyes, looking at her upturned little face.
  • With a naive smile, Myra looked like an innocent fool as she said, “It's the perfect time for us to get married!”
  • “Married?” Marcus scrutinized the woman in his arms. “Do you even know who I am?”
  • “Of course, you're the bodyguard of the son of the Gerhard family.” Myra's eyes grew more enchanted. “Yes, it's you. That bodyguard...”
  • That dimwit Myra had completely missed the part where Marcus was addressed as Mr. Gerhard.
