• The argument started over a schedule change neither of them had approved.
• Sylvia stood near the service entrance of the hotel ballroom, tablet tight against her side, while Alex blocked the narrow corridor that led back toward the loading dock. The last guests from the foundation reception had left twenty minutes earlier. Most of the lights in the main room were already down. Only the work lamps near the kitchen hallway remained.
• “You rearranged the speaker order without telling the events team,” she said. “Carmen had to rebuild the cue sheet during the first course.”
