Chapter 7 Tightening His Grip

  • "A longer skirt?"
  • Kiera stood in front of the mirror, gazing at her cherry-cheeked face. "Why did he have to make me feel embarrassed in front of those men? What a dick move! He could have simply warned me about it in private.”
  • She pats her cheeks with cold water for the hundreth time before finally exiting the bathroom. She had a lot of work to do, particularly the fundraising event plans. He was not making her life any easier by acting mean.
  • Dragging her feet back to her desk, she noticed his office door had been opened. He was probably finished with the meeting. He summoned her before she even had a chance to sit. “Screw this guy!” With a heavy sign, she made her way into his office.
  • "Yes, Mr. Alexandro." She tried to avoid sounding tired or angry. Of course, she was upset that he let that statement slip out of his mouth. It was clear that everyone's attention was drawn to her skirt. It was not even that short.
  • Look at him sitting like some king. she squinted her eyes, fantasizing about punching him in his beautiful face. He lifted his gaze to meet hers, and she tried not to sneer or pout. "Would you please see Ms. Selena out?"
  • "What?" She directs her gaze to the red-haired girl sitting on the large brown cushion in the corner of his office. Holy moly, she is so freaking beautiful, she felt gay just looking at her.
  • "You must be the new assistant," she uttered, rising to her feet. Her dress draped over her pale thighs. Each graceful step was accompanied by the clicking of golden heels. "I am Selena, your boss's fiance." She crossed her arms over her chest, her gaze sweeping Kiera from head to toe.
  • "It is a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Selena; you look stunning." Kiera could not control the words that came out. But Selena only gave a chuckle before turning to face Alexandro, who had been watching them. "She is cute," her tone was sarcastic rather than sincere.
  • He merely furrowed his brow in response to her statement. "I will see you at home." She announced and walked out of the office.
  • "I will walk you to your car," Kiera hastily followed.
  • Selena gave a courteous smile, but she shook her head. "That is fine." With that, she walked away, swaying her hips even more.
  • That was awkward; why was he acting weird? That is his girlfriend, and they did not even say goodbye affectionately. Keira pondered as she walked back into the office, hoping to have some say in how he treated women.
  • "Mr. Alexandro," she uttered, but she crashed right into him. "What is it?" She took a big swallow, as he looked down at her. “Umm it's nothing.” She stammered and stepped away from his chest. "Is she gone?" He inquired as he walked towards his file cabinet. "Yes, but she did not need me to accompany her." She snickered.
  • “She's very beautiful.” She smiled, hoping that he would appreciate the compliment.
  • “Has the wine for next week been ordered?” He questioned instead. "Yes, it has," she whispered, perplexed as to why he was so distant from their relationship.
  • "Are you going to be there?"
  • " I am not sure!" Since many people from all over the country would be there, Kiera still had a fear of crowds and was afraid someone might recognize her. She trails off as he looks at her nervously standing at the door.
  • "I require that all of my employees be present. You are my personal assistant, so you should be the first one here, Kiera."
  • She nodded as she continued to watch him move around the office, gathering paperwork. He was extremely tall and gorgeous. He also has a gorgeous girlfriend. Goals! She bets half of the girls in this company are envious of Selena. Who wouldn’t be?
  • "Gawking will not help you get your work done." She blinked, recognizing that she was staring at him and daydreaming. "Sorry, sir," she apologized.
  • "Listen, when I mentioned your skirt earlier in the conference room, I really meant it. I was not being cocky or anything," he drawled.
  • " I understand, sir. I'm sorry ," she said, shifting from one foot to the other.
  • He pulled a pen from his desk and sighed, "Don’t be sorry."
  • "I know, but saying sorry is the right thing to do," Kiera explained as he approached her.
  • "I told you to get it right the first time," he replied, getting down on one knee. Kiera's eyes widened as she stared down at him.
  • "The length," he whispered, his hand gripping the back of her thigh, and she nearly squeaked at the touch. Her body heats up immediately, and her cheeks burn brightly. She felt the pen mark the location where he wanted the length to sit.
  • His fingers were pressing against her skin, and she felt dizzy. "You are a smart girl, Kiera, and I do not want men to take advantage of you. Your appearance was part of the reason I hired you, so keep that up.”
  • He whispered and rose to his feet. She remained rosy-cheeked and nervous. "Are you alright?" He smirked, and she nearly collapsed. "Yes, I am," she exclaimed. His smile did not fade as he returned to his seat.
  • “That’ll be all, Ms.kiera.” He opened up his laptop and dived right back into work, Kiera gulped and nodded her head before leaving his office.
  • "What the hell is the matter with me? He had barely touched me, but I was panting like a teenage girl with a crush. I felt like one of those ridiculous romance novel heroines who blushed at every little thing. But this was not a sentimental novel; this is a workplace, and he is my boss, for crying out loud! To make matters worse, he has a fiancee. Bitch, get a hold of yourself."
  • She took out her phone as she sat down at her desk to find a message from Ryan. Finally, he texted.
  • "He's inviting me out," Kiera thought, her heart skipping a beat as she read the text.
  • "Going out tonight. Wanna come with?" the message from him read.
  • "Yes, please." She replied.
  • "Okay, B. I will send you the location. Have a friend drop you off after work." He responded.
  • She thought he had run away and left her behind! But who was going to drop her? He knows she has no friends and cannot afford to bother Josephine, who has been working tirelessly.
  • Setting her phone aside, she lowered her eyes to the inked mark just above her knee. Her heart begins to race once more as she grinds her thumb across it. Grasping her thigh with his fingers felt amazing.
  • "Noo! No Kiera, do not even bother going there!” She muttered, waving her hands in the air, brushing those horrible ideas from her mind and continuing working.
