Chapter 4 I'm Not Some Dog
- ********
- Few weeks later
- Account files in the left hand, a coffee mug in the right, and a handbag between her teeth. Laptop bag slung over her shoulder.
- She was an absolute freak! She was parading into work dressed like a circus clown. Of course she ignored those who gawked, and greeted those who greeted with a smile and hum. Nobody even attempted to assist her.
- Taking her daily route through the accounting department, she leaves the file on Ethan's desk and removes her bag from between her teeth.
- “Good morning kiera.” A colleague greeted her with a smile. “Hi.” she returned the smile and hurried out. She was late. Well five minutes! Yet she's sure he’d make a fuss out of it. “Such a prick.” she cursed.
- Prancing around in heels made her feel dumb. She dumps her bags on her desk and proceeds to knock on his massive black door. Just like his damn heart. “was he even in?” she questioned as she continued knocking until she heard him grant permission.
- Pushing the door open, she forced a smile as his eyes lifted to find hers. “Late.” Was his way of saying good morning.
- "I know, I am sorry sir, it's just that I had files to deliver and then your coffee," she explained as she placed the mug on his sleek brown desk, which made her want to eat lunch there. His office was stunning. She always admired it as if it was her first time entering.
- "I do not accept your apologies, Ms. Kiera. And to be honest, I do not believe in the word sorry. Simply get it right the first time." he sassed.
- "I am sorry," she paused as he looked up at her again.
- “I'm sor..” but then she pauses again.
- “ what the fuck! I am apologizing for apologizing. Someone, kill me already." She whined.
- “ Get on with your day” he says as he goes back to staring at his laptop screen.
- “ Right! Let me know if you need anything sir.” she strolled out of his office, shutting the door gently as possible.
- Being Alexandro’s assistant for almost a month now and honestly Kiera feels she's getting nowhere with trying to create some professional bond. Having a good relationship with your boss means work will be a breeze. But unfortunately Alexandro is cocky and stubborn to the bone.
- She takes her seat and unzips her bag and flips open the laptop and gets it running.
- “ Hey cutie” Glancing up, she smiles at Josephine and continues with the emails. “ Is Mr. Hotness busy?”, she asked while staring at the closed door.
- “He's always busy,” she chuckled.
- “ Well I have to discuss some work with him about next week's event.” She waved some paper in the air and Kiera nodded her head and pressed down the buzzer.
- “Sir, Josephine from marketing is here to see you”. They both wait for his response but nothing.
- “prick” Kiera mouths the word to Josephine and she giggles. “ Did you see his girlfriend’s latest insta update? That tan bitch was all over him”, Josephine murmured, rolling her eyes.
- “she's allowed to be all over him. That's his girlfriend.” Kiera snicker.
- “ I don't pay you both to chit chat and giggle like high school girls.”
- They both turned to look at Alexandro standing at the open door. “I buzzed you” Kiera swallowed hard and he turned his attention to Josephine after sighing. “ Can we discuss this later?” he asked her.
- “It's nothing important sir. Just brought this to be signed.” She handed him the documents then turned on her heels and strutted away.
- “Kiera” he called out and she stood as if she was in the military service. “Sir?”. She could swear she witnessed the corner of his lips curl into a smirk. “You're jumpy lately.”
- He pointed out and she smiled, scratching the back of her head. “ Cancel my meetings for today,” he came over to her desk as she sat back down.
- “All of them?” she asked as he leaned in,watching her skim through emails to find the clients he was to meet.
- “ I have other plans”, he whispered and she tilted her head to look up at him.
- “Sweet Jesus, he is beautiful. That jawline could slice through steel. He was more pale than usual. Strands of his brown hair rested on his forehead while the rest was brushed back neatly. He smelled expensive ... .His suits always fit him perfectly, showing off his broad figure.”
- “What?” Kiera snapped out of her thoughts. He was watching her the entire time. She was only admiring how he took care of himself. She swore she wasn’t crushing on him like the other women in the company.
- “Sorry!” she whispers and he smiles, standing straight and pats her head. “ Get it right without an apology.” he advised and she nodded her head. He removed his hands and went back into his office.
- “Okay, he is kind when he wants to be. A kind prick”, she blushed to herself.

- 6: 45 pm
- The rain had set in. With it came the chilled breeze which created goosebumps all over Kiera's skin. Standing out the massive building. As she waits patiently for her boyfriend to fetch her.It was a routine she had grown accustomed to since they started dating a few weeks ago.
- But the truth was, Keira wasn't in love with Ryan. She wasn't even sure if she liked him that much. She has vowed never to love again after what her ex boyfriend Maxwell did to her.
- What she did like was the financial security he offered. Living alone and struggling with bills made her desperate. And Ryan, with his wealthy background and lavish spending habits, had seemed like the perfect solution.
- At first, Ryan had been persistent in his pursuit of Keira, showering her with gifts and attention. She had tried to brush him off, but eventually, her financial struggles had worn her down.
- “Kiera”, his deep voice made her hum in response before looking up at him. “ You’re still here,” he stared down at her as if she was some alien.
- “Oh yes. My boyfriend is running late sir”. He glanced down at his wrist watch, “I'm heading to a meeting. I can give you a ride home.”
- “How sweet, don't worry about me” she smiled awkwardly. “ He will be here soon.”
- “You want to freeze to death?” His question was far-fetched. She surely wouldn't die out in this drizzle. “I am fine”, she shifted from one foot to the other. The heels were killing her slowly.
- “Are you sure?” he asked again and she nodded. “ I'm sure sir, you enjoy your evening”. She gave him a warm smile.
- “You enjoy the cold.” he dead panned but gave her head a little pat. “ I was not some dog!” she murmured quietly. “I will,” she waved as he walked away to his car.
- The sound of the hoot made her snap her head to see Ryan waiting for her. She forced a smile, playing the role of the doting girlfriend. As she holds her bags tightly and runs in the rain to get to his car.
- “Was that the boss?” he asks as soon as Keira gets into the car. “Yes” she nods. “He was offering me a ride home because he thought you’d be late.”
- She was about to turn the heater on when he scoffed. “what?” she asked.
- “ He looked pretty comfortable touching you.”
- “Oh, he saw that dog pet???” Kiera swallowed.
