Chapter 34 Chapter Thirty-four

• In the deafening silence that followed, Colin stared at the scissors in his hand and at the tufts of hair on the floor and he wondered if he had just made a great mistake.
• He immediately regretted his words, his reaction. He wished he had simply let it go. He hated himself for letting his stupid and misplaced feelings for Elaine get in the way of the nanny who made his daughter happier even, than her mother ever did.
• He felt sorry, wishing he could go after her and apologize but pride formed a lump in his throat. Clearing his throat and squaring his shoulders, he made his way out of the room.
