• Ariel walked into the living room, instantly sensing the thick tension hanging in the air. Daniel was already there, perched rigidly on the couch, his arms tightly crossed over his chest. The moment she entered, his jaw tightened, but he remained silent.
• “If this is about Ethan,” Ariel said, shrugging her bag off her shoulder, “then I’m really not in the mood to argue about it.”
• She moved toward the stairs, her pace casual. She had no desire to argue with Daniel… not tonight.
