Chapter 81

Emily, after having slept with Omari, decided to go home. The ride home felt eternal, her mind a tangled mess of guilt and confusion. As she pulled up at her house, she hesitated before stepping out. She could see Alex’s car at their car park. Steeling herself, she took a deep breath and entered the house.
Alex was in the living room, sitting on the couch with a glass of wine and focused on his laptop . He looked up as she walked in, but his expression was unreadable. Emily’s heart pounded in her chest as she quietly made her way upstairs, avoiding eye contact.
"You came home? Was two days enough to clear your head?"... Alex mused.
