Chapter 7 An Eyesore

  • There were now only two people at the round table.
  • From the moment Theron entered the restaurant, he began trying to detect anything unusual. His gaze fell on his daughter.
  • The little girl was still upset by Sabrina's sudden departure, so upon seeing her father, not only was she completely unafraid, but she even turned away with a huff.
  • The little princess seems upset. You should comfort her. Luke, Theron's wolf, sometimes found it hard to understand Theron. He obviously cared a lot about his daughter, yet he always maintained a fierce demeanor.
  • A faint scowl appeared on Theron's face.
  • "Are you okay, my princess?"
  • This father-daughter pair, one unable to speak, the other unwilling to speak, made Adrian's role as an assistant quite useful.
  • The little girl merely glanced at him before furiously turning away once more.
  • Adrian observed her. Noticing that she was safe and sound, he sighed with relief and turned to report to Theron.
  • With narrowed eyes, Theron turned to the woman beside his daughter.
  • Hazel's chest tightened as she met his gaze, and she secretly squeezed her hands to compose herself.
  • "Where's Sabrina?"
  • Theron's gaze swept across Hazel's face, carefully observing her expressions. No deceptive words or actions could escape his sharp eyes.
  • Why would he ask that? Hazel, as a witch, still feared the formidable Alpha of the Frostfang Pack.
  • While Hazel was afraid, she also felt a slight relief knowing that her good friend had made a quick escape.
  • A thought suddenly flashed through Hazel's mind—she should encourage Sabrina to become proficient in Aviation Magic! It would help her escape better when facing Theron.
  • The Alpha's aura was so overwhelming that it left her breathless. If Sabrina were present, who knew how things would turn out?!
  • "I don't know what you're talking about! Who are you people? Suddenly surrounding us like this, disturbing my meal!"
  • Concealing her emotions and unleashing her best acting skills, Hazel pulled the little girl into her arms while staring cautiously at the men in front of her.
  • The crease between Theron's brows deepened. "That's my daughter you're holding. Were you the one who called me?"
  • Hazel stilled briefly. "Yes, it was me," she answered rigidly.
  • Theron stared at her expressionlessly before scanning every detail inside the room.
  • She does sound like the woman over the phone. But does she think she can fool me?
  • Besides, the state of the table was an obvious attempt to hide something.
  • Sure, there were only two sets of plates and cutlery on the table, but the three chairs aside looked like they had been moved.
  • The staff at Rose on the Water would never make such a mistake. People must've sat there before he came.
  • Also, all this food definitely wasn't meant for just a woman and a child.
  • After glancing around, he set his eyes on Hazel again.
  • The woman suddenly had a bad feeling.
  • The next second, she watched as Theron took a phone from his assistant and swiped on the screen before peering up at her.
  • Soon, the phone Sabrina had passed to her began to ring.
  • Having been caught off guard, Hazel nearly jumped in fright, but she hurriedly composed herself and glanced at the phone for a moment before lifting it up and rejecting the call. "Since you're her father, you can take her with you," she commented, meeting the man's gaze.
  • Then, she caressed the little girl's head, placed her on the ground, and nudged her in Theron's direction.
  • Theron's brows slightly furrowed as he took two steps forward.
  • Thinking he was coming over to retrieve the child, Hazel was about to let out a sigh when she suddenly heard the man speak to her in a skeptical tone.
  • "You seem to have quite the appetite, miss. To think you ordered a whole table of food just for yourself and a little girl."
  • The man casually stopped next to the table, his words seemingly implying something.
  • Hazel fell silent.
  • After holding her breath for a moment, she forced a smile. "My appetite isn't any of your concern. Besides, I ordered this much food because I've invited my friends over. They just haven't arrived yet."
  • Theron quirked a brow. "And you've begun eating before they show up?"
  • As his words fell, the man glanced at every dish on the table.
  • Hazel was nearly startled into losing control of her magic by him. She really wanted to cast an Amnesia Spell on this guy or make him leave immediately. However, she didn't dare to. Even the most powerful witch needed to be wary of the Frostfang Pack, especially its Alpha.
  • She lowered her eyes in silence for a while, adjusted her expression, and with a distant smile, she said, "I was too hungry and took a few bites. My friends wouldn't mind."
  • Without waiting for Theron to ask again, Hazel took a deep breath, her face showing anger. "Sir, are you doubting me? How rude of you! Or, sir, are you deliberately trying to provoke a conflict? I kindly saved your daughter, and so be it if you don't show gratitude, but how can you interrogate me like a criminal? How disgusting!"
  • Her tone was filled with offended dissatisfaction. After all, she was an outstanding witch and couldn't afford to lose face in front of this werewolf.
  • Meanwhile, Sabrina waited in the parking lot, holding hands with a child on each side as unsettlement swirled within her.
  • She knew Theron's personality and ability too well to know that even the smallest clue would be enough for him to track people down.
  • I wonder how long Hazel can hang on. If we're traced… What will happen?
  • The woman couldn't seem to find an answer, no matter how hard she tried.
  • Will Theron burn her? Or will he initiate a war between werewolves and witches and engage in a life-and-death struggle with her?
  • After a while, she self-mockingly bit her lip.
  • None of these scenarios seemed likely, so what was she really afraid of?
  • Back then, when she forced Theron to make a pact and even drugged him, that guy probably never wanted to see her again in his life.
  • Even if he did see her, perhaps Theron would pretend not to recognize her, disgusted that a despicable witch had tainted the eyes of the powerful and excellent Alpha of the Frostfang Pack.
  • Thinking about this, Sabrina suddenly felt that there was really no need to scare herself like this, and there was even less reason to fear that Theron would take action against her...
  • The Alpha of the Frostfang Pack would never bother with a witch.
