Chapter 2 The Woman Who Abandoned Her Child

  • Sabrina hurried to Evander's office.
  • Upon entering, she saw her two little mischief-makers sitting on the sofa, swinging their legs with shattered vials and spilled green liquid on the floor.
  • The boys lit up at the sight of Sabrina. Scrambling off the couch, they ran toward her excitedly. "Mommy, you’re finally here! I thought you'd be staying in the Alchemy Room forever!"
  • "Mommy, you've worked for so long! Are you tired? Sit down. I'll give you a massage."
  • They led Sabrina to the couch so she could take a seat.
  • As Sabrina took in their concern, she suddenly felt it was worth it to get yelled at.
  • "Look at how obedient you are. You weren't like this when you dropped my potions earlier!" Evander huffed angrily behind his desk.
  • Leo declared, "It was all your fault, Professor Lowry! You kept asking Mommy to work overtime. Look, she's getting malnourished!"
  • "That's right! How could you ask Mommy to work day and night?" Nox chimed in as he kneaded Sabrina's shoulder.
  • His temper spiked, Evander gave a bark of laughter and responded, "You're too overprotective of her! Everyone in the potion research institute has gone through the same! "
  • With that said, he shook his head and turned to Sabrina. "How's the progress with the potion this time?"
  • Sabrina shot him a grin. "It went smoothly. I'll bring the samples over for you to check later."
  • She paused before asking, "Has the broken potion been restored?"
  • Evander ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "No, I just barely passed the Restoration Spell course..."
  • Amused, Sabrina patted Nox's hand. "Nox, go restore Professor Lowry's potion to its original state. Don't mess around. What if the potion is permanently destroyed? What could we do then?"
  • Nox immediately replied, "That won't happen, Mommy. Don't you already know that I've learned the Restoration Spell? I won't do things without certainty."
  • Saying this, he obediently moved to Evander's side and began to restore the mess on the ground.
  • Smoothly reciting a long string of spells…
  • A few minutes later, a golden light shone on the ground, and the broken vial immediately returned to its original state, with the liquid inside unharmed.
  • After seeing this, Evander couldn't help but marvel at the two little boys, who were unbelievably clever!
  • Leo, at such a young age, mastered healing skills and could identify thousands of medicinal herbs. In alchemy, he demonstrated unique talents, and he also showed special keenness in financial investments.
  • Nox, on the other hand, was very interested in various magical spells. By now, he had mastered quite a few challenging magic spells. What was even more interesting was his special interest in financial investments.
  • Besides, both of them were adorable.
  • Thus, he couldn't bring himself to yell at them whenever they kicked up a fuss. Instead, he could only vent his frustrations on their mother.
  • Sabrina immediately offered an apology. "I'm sorry, Professor. Please don't blame the kids for their naughty acts."
  • And don't yell at me, too. I can't always be their scapegoat, can I?
  • Evander chuckled at her reaction. "Don't worry. I didn't summon you here to yell at you. I have a task for you. Listen, I'm planning to set up a research institute back in Starspire, focusing on medicine making. However, I'm still busy here and can't leave for now. After careful consideration, I've decided to send you back!"
  • Sabrina had no idea he would say that. She froze and hesitated.
  • Go back to Starspire, huh?
  • She never considered returning to that place again after leaving six years ago.
  • After all, she didn't have a family or someone she cared about back there.
  • Besides, she had grown to love Eldoria.
  • Her first reaction was to reject the offer. "Professor, I—"
  • However, Evander interjected, "Sabrina, I know you may not want to go back, but I still hope you consider it carefully… Over these years, you've been studying medicine and alchemy with me. You should understand that there aren't enough medicinal herbs here for your research. But back in the country, it's different… There are plenty of medicinal herbs for you to use. More importantly, there are many wizarding families in the country, each of them an outstanding wizard. They possess the ancient lineage of alchemical recipes. You are interested in this field, right? So… that's why I suggest you go back!
  • "With your abilities, you're sure to achieve great things in the future. Moreover, you have undergone a significant transformation now. Even if you encounter any challenges or people, you should be able to handle them well, right?"
  • At his words, Sabrina fell silent.
  • He's right. I've changed into a completely different person now. I can face all obstacles without fear. Besides, it has been six years. Perhaps that man is already married to his soulmate. Why am I afraid?
  • With that thought in mind, Sabrina took a deep breath and nodded solemnly. "All right, then. Professor, I'll listen to you and return to Starspire."
  • Evander beamed. "I'm glad you made up your mind quickly. Don't worry, this time when you go back, I will have Linda accompany you. Additionally, I will assign some excellent wizards to assist you."
  • "Great. Thank you, Professor!" Sabrina gave a curt nod.
  • As they were conversing, Leo and Nox shared a look. They could sense each other's excitement.
  • Mommy's finally returning to Starspire!
  • In fact, the two of them had been dying to head back for ages. After all, their father was back there. They wanted to see him in person. Of course, they also wanted to teach him a lesson for being heartless, abandoning them and their mother.
  • Two days later, at the Atlantra Airport, Sabrina, with her two precious sons, set foot again on the land she had been away from for six years.
  • An accomplished witch could have flown back using the Aviation Spell, but unfortunately, she wasn't proficient in that skill. Her flying skills couldn't sustain such a long journey, especially with two children in tow.
  • So, she opted for the swift transportation of an airplane.
  • After disembarking the plane, they walked out of the hallway. Just then, Nox squeezed his legs together and tugged at the corner of Sabrina's skirt. "Mommy, I need to pee."
  • Sabrina and Leo giggled at the sight of his urgent expression. "Okay. Let's go, then."
  • She reached out to ruffle Nox's hair.
  • At once, Nox trembled violently. "Stop it, Mommy. I'm going to pee my pants!"
  • With a chuckle, Sabrina led him to the restroom.
  • Leo then brought his brother into the restroom while Sabrina waited outside with their luggage. She didn't forget to send her professor a text to inform him about their arrival.
  • Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out.
  • "Worthless! With so many people, how can you lose a child and even lose track of her?! What use do I have for you?!"
  • There was a hint of fury in the man's melodious, deep, and rich voice. It was pleasing to the ears.
  • Sabrina's hands, which were initially typing out a message on her phone, froze instantly.
  • Six years had passed since she last heard this voice, but she still found it eerily familiar.
  • Looking up, Sabrina spotted the tall figure some distance away.
  • Standing not far off was a tall man. His black suit accentuated his long legs and added a touch of elegance to his figure. Even in the huge crowd, he was eye-catching.
  • Sabrina could see his perfect side profile from her line of sight.
  • His contours seemed like a masterpiece meticulously carved by God, without any flaws. She was certain that this man was the perfect creation of the Moon Goddess, Selene.
  • Theron Larkspur!
  • Sabrina's heart clenched at the sight of him.
  • She had no idea she'd run into him on the day of her arrival.
  • The feelings she had buried deep in her heart emerged temporarily, but she quickly put a lid on them.
  • Her gaze turned frosty.
  • She could finally appear calm before him.
  • Right then, the boys emerged from the restroom. "Mommy, we're done!" they declared cheerfully.
  • Sabrina snapped out of her reverie and nearly had a heart attack.
  • The first thought that popped up in her mind was that she needed to leave right away. I can't let Leo and Nox see him. They bear a resemblance to him. If they bump into each other, he'll definitely realize something's wrong!
  • Sabrina refused to get involved with him yet again.
  • Flustered, she urged, "You're done? Come, let's go. Let's not keep Hazel waiting."
  • Without waiting for a reply, she dragged her luggage away.
  • Halfway through his phone call, Theron heard a familiar voice and turned to his shoulder.
  • From the corner of his eye, he spotted a familiar female figure.
  • Sabrina Jollivet? Is that her? She's back?
  • It's her, I'm sure of it. That woman carries the scent of our mate. It must be her who's returned, his wolf Luke said with unwavering certainty.
  • Theron ran after her immediately, but her figure had already disappeared into the crowd.
  • He tried using a telepathic connection to track her, but to his surprise, she had hidden her presence!
  • Only a witch could use magic to conceal their aura.
  • As his gaze turned dark, Theron was about to explode with rage.
  • She left the country so resolutely and even abandoned her child… Has she come back to seek redemption?
